Ok, I know what VVT stands for, but what about the"i"?

well it used to be injection like GM had EFI Electronic Fuel Injecton. but if Toyota wants to call there engine intelligent, more power to them but my engine is as dumb as a box of rocks because its can't do anything with out my help (turning the key).
