Problem after speaker install

Post by Melonbob »

I just finished installing a pair of fronts in my 05 base vibe, but now I have a problem. Seems the power door locks don't work anymore, and the dome light doesn't turn on when I open the drivers door anymore either. I didn't even unplug the power lock, I just unscrewed it from the door panel. Is there something I missed?

You may shorted something during the removal/ installation of the doors. Check the fuses for the power windows and dome light.

Two things I would do first. One, I would check to make sure the connections are tight. Two, I would check the fuses. If that doesn't show a problem, then you need to see if you damaged/crimped a wire while doing the install

UPDATEFound the fuse for the door locks was blown, went and bought some new ones. Put one in, and it blew again. took the door panels off, and after some very careful inspection I found that one of the screws I used to hold the speaks on the door pierced through the wire for the door lock. To anyone doing this install pay close attention to where the wire runs, it goes directly over the top right screw hole on the speaker mounting bracket. It does this on both sides of the vehicle. I taped the wire, and replaced the screw with alot less pointy bolt and nut. Just a heads up to anyone doing speakers!!!
