Power Invertors for laptops? (non-Vibe)

Post by tnpartsguy »

I need a power invertor for my laptop. Sony doesn't make one (they claim they never did, but I know I saw one offered when I bought mine). I need to find one stout enough to run my older Vaio, it has a 19V adapter, which outputs about 2 amp. I'm about to take a trip to WV and want to be able to power my laptop so I can use the GPS program I just got for my annivesary.

I think any 100W inverter should do you fine.

I know the one in the Vibe wasn't heavy enough. I think it's limited to 1.5 amps, correct? I couldn't use my laptop in the Vibe, I know....I tried...blew the fuse

Get an Auto power adapter from something like Targus. They make DC-DC adapters that plug into your 12v outlet that go directly to the computer. Inverters are pretty inefficient, so to get one for that computer you'll probably want one closer to 300-400w. That'll run you around $40-$60.Here's the site: http://www.targus.com/us/powerstore.aspClick on 'My Notebook' under step 1, then the type of adapter you want. Generally you'll find these for sale at Best Buy. I use one with my Dell and it works flawlessly.
