My vibe still has the OE oil filter which is a Toyota filter. I am about to do the first oil change and there is a Toyota dealership nearby, so I was thinking about going straight there and getting another Toyota filter. If you go to the GM dealer, do they just carry Toyota dealership or does one of the AC Delco filters from the parts bin fit the Vibe?Im going on an extended mileage interval with a god synthetic and will be switching filters midway, and would like to get the best filter possible.
i wouldnt even try the GM dealership, they charge like x4 the amount toyota will for any vibe part. get the toyota one Or i just get puralator ones from fleet farm, they were 2 for $5 last weekend
The GM dealers carry the AC Delco filter. I buy the AC Delco filter at my local auto store for the Vibe. I will not use anything else...I can get you the AC part number tonight when I go home if you want.
^ why you all so down on FRAM?I use those things exclusively....is the TOYOTA one THAT different???fill me in on the details!BTW: maxt, you will find that the OEM filterwas applied with the hand of God, getting itoff will require some patience and persistence

That which may be known of God is evident within man, for God has shown it to them, so that they are without excuse.(Romans 1:19-20) What do you want most in life?
I think the study or one of them, found only 1 fram filter (more expensive one) was the only one that passed some test they ran. Im just going to stick with puralator, TRD or a toyota oem filter. And since fleet farm has 2 for 5 bucks on puralator....its a sweet deal
AC Delco all the way! For my GM cars that is... They build a great filter and score well in the filter tests found on the net. When I lease a car I use the Manf filter i.e. my PT Cruiser gets Mopar filters only... I do this because I change my oil myself and if there ever is an engine issue, I do not want Chrysler to say it is because of the filter...
I still cant convince my dad not to use them on his escape and my moms malibu.... GRRRRRR time to use force!! I bet the acdelco for the vibe is just a rebaged toyota one...
after posting, i ran a search and saw this topic is often debated. search > megoing to do the oil change this weekend and hit up Toyota for a filter beforehand. switching to synthetic too, car should be happy. got a little over 3k on the break in oil right now.

I think they tried to tighten it as tight as possible at the factory or something. i couldnt believe it. I had to use a gigantic set of channel locks to get it off. Insane. The vibe is on a diet of Castrol Syntec and I dont know if its my ears playing with me but it sounds like the engine is ultra quiet. Should have paid closer attention before the change but at idle I can barely hear it
Let's see...AC Delco uses this filter for only one application (Vibe), so more than likely it is a Denso filter repackaged for GM. Also, this is a Corolla engine, engineered and built (mostly) by Toyota...so why go with the AC Delco? Toyota Denso OEM = $4.50.AC Delco "OEM" = $7.00+ (?)Unless you live far away from a Toyo dealer or are feeling the false pains of "Buy American," screw throwing money away for the same part. As for the GM parts counter, if they try to tell you that you must use an OEM AC Delco filter or else risk voiding your warranty, ask them to explain the Magnuson-Moss Warrany Act to you.
