Hi Guys!Sorry for the stupid queston. But i don't know wich is looks better.I love the black, but i have a 98 Cav Z24 and it is also black. My wife loves the white Vibe, and she bored about the black colour. So i'd just like to know, how many of you preferd for black, and how many of white. And sorry again!(and sorry about my english too)
Hi, I reposted MrRich's original post here and added a polling feature. Anyone can post a poll at anytime using the forums for similar topics and questions.(my vote is for black)- Mike
I went for a Frosty Vibe. Here is why.I have been driving small cars for all of my 23 years of car ownership. My light brown Mitsubishi Colt was invisible, the black CRX was impossible to keep clean, and the red Integra was a magnet for vandals and thieves. My white civic has never been hit, was easy to color match the inevitable parking lot scratches, never faded and always looked bright, even when dirty. White is a very practical colour. Sorry bud, I have to agree with your lady. You will learn to hate polishing your black car. Cheers, Ken.

i have the black vibe Gt, i would have prolly rather had a different colorbut i didnt have alot to chose from, considering the bought the only GT with power package in the state of mississippi, i didnt have much of a choice.im happy with black though, after having a red truck for 5 yrsGreg
I voted white for a couple reasons.First is a I really like white cars as long as they are a true white and not some cream color. I think white cars with black, or at lkeast dark colored trim look especially good. The Vibe's lower moldings with the white make it look really good IMO.As for dirt, I think white cars are easier to keep looking clean. I owned a white car for 4 years, and although it will look dirty when very dirty, it doesn't really show dust or light dirt. A black car, on the other hand, will show every spec of dirt that lands on it. You will always be washing it, or it will always look dirty. Even road dust after driving it shows right away. It will look really nice when it is clean too.My cars now are bright red (Fiero) and a dark red (Probe). I like both, but really miss my white car. If I were you I'd go white, but either will look good!
I voted for white mainly because it will stay cleaner longer, at least it will look that way. I had a dark green Grand Am and a white one and the white never really looked dirty. It seemed like the green one was dirty as soon as it dried off. I like the looks of the darker colors when freshly cleaned but unfortunately it doesn't last long. BTW, I just got the Neptune Vibe, the dealer only had black, blue and red (salsa) in the base models (wife can't drive stick or we would have gotten the GT).
If you are good at keeping up on the way your car looks Black looks great and just about any car. The vibe looks mean as hell in black mono tone paint. Plus if you get the mono tone paint option it gets rid of the very cheap looking plastic bumpers and plastic around the wheels wells. It'll look more so like a Matrix being all one color. Just my option. I love black cars.
White for sure. Like the looks plus much cooler. Last week while wasting time at the car dealers leaned on a black car and could not keep my hand on it was so hot. Checked a white car, warm to the touch. This is very important in the summer heat/sun. Try it side by side, it's quite a difference.
Black cars look really good when they are clean. If you have the grey plastic cladding, it is nicer with darker colours. Rust shows more with a white car. White is easier to clean. White is harder to match / touch-up. I personally have a black Vibe GT and I get nothing but compliments. Black looks more agressive while being more discrete. Black is easier to sell later on because it is a colour that is more popular. White is harder to see in snow but black is harder to see at night. My final vote.... BLACK VIBES RULE!
Hey Ryan did you get the mono tone paint option. I saw a black Vibe with that option as I drove by the local dealership a few days ago. Oh my god that looks good. It blows the cheap grey plastic look of the others away.
I just recently saw a Frosty Vibe (with Monotone package) and I must say it looked pretty sharp! I am not too fancy of white cars, unless it is suitable to the vehicle. This Frosty Vibe was actually pretty attractive!I have not, however, seen a black (with Monotone package) Vibe yet to make my decision.Updated: I now have a Frosty Vibe.. go figure!
No, I don't have the monotonepaint but I actually like the grey plastic molding on my car. I fond it gives it a more rugged look. I washed it yesterday and it looks awesome.Ryan
Ryan: Do you have a white or black Vibe?BTW, I actually haven't seen a black Vibe in person as of yet. I was surprised to see almost all other colors except black. Either they can't get them in here or they are selling off the lot fast.

My Vibe GT is Abyss (black). I baptised it "Darth Vador". I find the front kind of looks like Vador's helmet. I must admit though that you need to wash the car really often if you want it to look its best.
Ryan, I will agree with you about black cars... you gotta keep them clean to get noticed!I also do notice how the front-end of a vehicle sometimes resembles people (in your case Darth Vader). Also some just look agressive (almost all new Pontiac's) and solid. Nick

My wife & I had the opposite problem, she liked the black much more than the white. Fine for her, but I park outside in the sun at home & work. After buying the white one, she realized why the first time she got in it on a sunny day. It was much cooler than her dark green Saturn. I had been driving a white 1988 Dodge Caravan, and washed it once every five years whether it needed it or not. I'll probably wash the Vibe a little more often, but a black one would be a mess by the time I got around to it.Larry

I had a white '96 pontiac gtp and as long as i waxed it once or twice a year and washed it every few months looked good as hell. I also had a black'93 mustang5.0Lx... when the stang was clean nothing looked better(epsecially at night with tire gloss and polished rims), but after a day of normal driving it all went to ****.
2003 Lava Vibe GT.17''wheel package, 6spd, no sunroof.......oh well
I wanted blue, and if I knew that they were going to make a monotone option I would have waited, but I too got the first and only GT in the Norfolk, VA area with the powerpackage, and moonroof/200W stereo package. It is black and I will have to live with it. Black was my second choice so it was not a big deal

Thank you Nick Nice collection you have going there. The car below has a great little subtle pin stripe between the tail and headlights that nicely accentuates the wedge shape. Has anyone else gone for a stripe?

Black shows scratches and seems to attract vandals. White will show rust sooner. Either shade looks best in monotone. Small cars are more visible in light colors.
Funny thing is that here in 100 degree summer Modesto the dealer had 14 Black Vibes, one red and nothing else. Black is a painful color in extreme heat.
Silver Base Vibe with Nav System that I wish had an OBD-II link
Mine was suppose to have the stripe but the dealer had not put it on when I decided to buy it so I asked him not to apply it. A pinstripe does look nice but I prefer a hand painted one to one they just stick on. I may get one added in the future when I get some spare dollars.

We have been in a pretty long drawn-out heat wave (for Ohio! ) and everyday I go to my car after being in the sun, I am glad I got White. I don't like White on pretty much any other car, but the Vibe really caught my eye and I personally think looks good.... hence that is what's sitting in my driveway.
quote:I love the monotone White. It would look soooo sweet lowered with a really deep tint and some nice rims.Me too! Well I plan getting the tints and then probably work on some sweet rims. I will have to think about lowering mine but that won't happen until next year if it does.
quote:I love lowered cars, i'm just concered about losing ride quality. Yes, I want my cake and eat it too. LOL! Exactly. If I like the way my Vibe looks with new rims and if I don't need to lower the vehicle, I won't. Who knows.
It is 99 degrees here today. Lucky I park my Vibe under a tree. One more thing about white Vibes, they don't show the bird poop as well as mine does! Do I park under the tree, keeping the car cool but pooped on or do I park elsewhere and be clean but hot? Be cool and wash the car every week or be hot and wash the car once a month? Aw, hell, maybe I'll just take the bus!
Haha, yeah white definately keeps the temperature down dramatically! My black Cavalier felt like 160 degrees inside after sitting out in the sun so I know what you are talking about. However, I still wash my car every other day, even though it is white. Can't beat a clean shiny car no matter what color it happens to be. Oh the drama we lead about what color to choose!
I was told many moons ago that it isn't good to wash the car that often, wore out the clear coat or something like that. Then again, mabe my Dad was trying to lower his water bill....
quote:I was told many moons ago that it isn't good to wash the car that often, wore out the clear coat or something like that.I was exaggerating to a point of course I don't think that holds true to this point as long as you use clear-coat safe car wash solution and wax your vehicle regularly. If I am wrong, then I am in trouble.
Pontiac white stays nice-I have a 89 Grand Am that still looks great! Black seems to look dirty much faster.White would be my choice! (although I do love my shadow!)

Well, I have a Neptune Vibe, so I would lean more towards black. Both colors look very nice though. I almost bought a black Vibe GT, but I was patient and ordered mine so it would be exactly how I wanted it.

black, especially the monotone, looks nasty, but.....it shows everything, everyplace you've ever been...plus-there is always some little (or big kid) who likes to "write" on cars, especially when dirty!!! my step sister had a buick GN that her mom wrote "wash me" on the back of it one time..you could still see the words after it was cleaned 'cause it etched right into the paint..white is good for low upkeep and really hides alot of dirt and scratches!
I definitely think black looks better but I would not dare purchase a black car for several reasons. Black gets dirty very easily, you can see every little nick cranny and piece of dirt on black cars, very high maintenance and not forget to mention that black gets VERY HOT! I would definitely go with the white! I of course have my Vibe in Satellite which I love!

OH MY GOODNESS!!! I WANT TIRES AND RIMS LIKE THAT! What size rims are those and what kind of tires should I get? That is just the look that I've been looking for!
How could a little green jedi resist a topic like this? Seriously though, I love the abyss vibe. The way I see it, when it's dirty, it's just as invisible as any of the other dirty cars out there. I've seen dirty white cars and dirty blue cars that look just as dusty and/or salty as mine does occaisionally. But when it's clean - it's just th purtiest thing. Makes me not mind that I have to set aside $3 a week to keep it clean. My old car got worse fuel mileage, so the average bill is about the same every month.I also think that black changes the character of the front of the car. The lighter colors make it look like the vibe has "bags" under its eyes (the black trim under the headlight reflector). The rest of the black trim disappears, the mirrors match, etc. I like how a sparkling clean white vibe looks too, but in my mind the decision was easy.
