I've been the owner of a new '06 AWD Vibe for about two and a half weeks, and I'm already getting the itch for some different wheels. My Vibe is Abyss, and I was originally thinking about some 17" black wheels, but I'm wondering just how good black wheels would look, considering the Abyss color is a metallic paint. Would a gunmetal or hyper-black wheel look better than a black wheel with this color of car? I know that's a matter of opinion, but a few opinions would be nice. Thanks!
i cant comment on the wheel color as i dont own a abyss vibe...BUTWelcome! oh hey your from MN!! there is a vibe meed August 5th http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=23245Theres the details, hope to see you there. Oh http://www.tirerack.com you can load your car up and check what rims look like on your car, maybe they have some nice black ones...
Try looking in the after market wheel gallery thread: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=9249You may find something you like in there.Welcome to GenVibe! And like, northvibe said check out the meet at Cableas in Owatonna on the 5th.
My Fleet:
'15 Ford Fusion AWD Titanium 2.0 Tutbo
'14 Lincoln MXZ AWD 2.0 Turbo
'14 Nissan Pathfinder AWD SL
'05 Pontiac Vibe AWD
Thanks for the invite. I'm in northwest Montana right now, but should be coming back through MN on the 5th. It probably won't be until early evening though...how late do you expect the meet will run???
Depends on how much you take advantage of the no limit speed limit there... Well, we'll be at the Cabellas.. which I've been told can take hours to go through..
Here's a post with pics of my Enkei MM-2's on my Abyss Vibe:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=11000They're pretty close to hyperblack. They are darker than gunmetal and have a very fine flake finish. Enkei doesn't make the MM-2 anymore, but they do have other wheels with the same color finish. Check out http://www.discounttire.com for more.Oh, and Welcome to GenVibe!
Unfortunately, there is a speed limit in MT now, and I saw plenty of cops on the way out here that appeared ready to enforce it! I drove 80 most of the way through ND and MT though, and never had a problem. Anywyay, I hope to see you guys on the 5th...if you see a black Vibe with dealer plates circling the parking lot, flag me down!
Welcome to the site. It will just take some time to find the right wheels for you, but looking at pic of other abyss vibes will help your decision. Good luck.

Black rims will look good on a black car - but it's always been my opinion that you need some chrome in there to make the tires stand out - or you just transition from black steel to black rubber to black car... blech.
Here's a poor picture without the dark window tint I have now. I keep forgetting to take a new picture, so here's what I have for now. They're gunmetal with chrome rim.http://img295.imageshack.us/im...5.jpgAnd here's a fancier picture of them, but they look a little dark in the photo:http://adaptivestrategies.com/...l.jpg
