I went and did a dyno base run & 1/4 mile run (lol) with my Vibe yesterday. This is the shop that will be tuning my Unichip in the future so I wanted to see where I was starting at. It was my first time dynoing ever and it was pretty cool! I didn't know what to expect but I got 107.4whp/101wtq after it got out of first gear. It was in third gear at the start then the auto tranny downshifted as soon as Spencer floored it. The 1st gear torque was nice at 160.1wtq, but leveled off once it shifted to second and was pretty flat the rest of the way. You can hear it shift into third at the end of the vid. The numbers are to the wheels. So they estimated that there was a 20% loss of power from the crank to the wheels since it is AWD. According to Spencer's estimate the crank numbers would be around 135hp/126tq (not bad considering the stock crank numbers are 118hp/115tq) & my 1st gear torque would have been at 200ft./lbs. (I don't know if that is correct or not, but is sounds good) A good thing is that my A/F ratio was super rich staying between 7 & 8 the whole time so there will be some power gained with tuning. Spencer said that auto trannys are harder to dyno and get accurate numbers than sticks. But I was just wanting a base so I can compare future mods and their gains. So over all I am happy with my base dyno.I also did a couple 1/4 mile run on the dyno and that was a paultry 19.01 and then 19.06 due to crappy launches. I have never done a 1/4 run before either, so that was cool to do. I didn't get my 60 foot time though. I can't wait to dyno again soon!! Here is a Video of my Dyno Run:

pretty neat isn't it. the roll test machines at work are like that you drive 60 MPH checking all kinds of stuff on the truck like: up shift, down shift, A/C function, hard excell, cruise control ect...

The other is to just make sure it spins the same as the front.

BC, thank you! this is why i'm making Mav run his vibe at the test n tune drag strip this weds eve! i want to get a baseline for the unichip before it's installed. as it stands, it'll be off because he's got his CAI and exhaust. I have a G-tech RR and will be downloading the info for both our cars.... then we'll do it again once we get teh unichip installed on his vibe. i want to see what kind of numbers we'll really actually see. I only wish i'd been able to do this last year with my car stock and then do it again after the ECM and catted pipes. i can see the 1/4 ET times diff, but to see est power and torque...too bad there isn't an AWD dyno up here. i'd love to do the same on mine...

ok, i see. yes, you're not going to get a totally accurate measurement then. however, if it's the same place you'll be doing your tuning, then it doesn't matter. all dynos are different anyways, so to get the most accurate, you'd have to have the same car on the same dyno on the same day.... air, temp, heat, all of that matters when you dyno. some dyno's report higher gains while others seem to be lower. the point is that if you dyno on the SAME system with the SAME car, you need to get a baseline before you mod. then when you go back to that same system to rerun your dyno, you will get an accurate calculation of the improvements. what really matters is the difference between run 2 vs run 1.
Binary: I know that it is belt driven so the rears match the front and the measurement is take only off the front. I added my A/F Ratio graph to the first post. It can be leaned out a little bit to get more power, not too much more though. Ideal is 12.5 across the board.

now I see looking at the sheet you posted. the FT/LBS., foot - pounds. Which is the correct terminology. I hear people all the time saying pound - feet. WRONG...I say ...just look at any torque wrench...ft./lb. on the handle. If people only knew what they were saying...and what it means. That 160 ft/lbs. because of the auto trans. is definately a 1st gear only possibility... NO wonder mine pulls so hard in 1st. Makes it touchy going up the ramps when doing an oil change. thanks...
