Hi everybody,I am not sure if this is normal or i have a problem . Today while driving i accidently hit the Shift stick with my hand and it moved from D to N, this was without pressing the lock button on the left side of the stick(which you press with your thumb to change the gear ) .BTW it is a Automatic transmission .Otherwise the vibe is running fine .

Thanks for the reply . I was driving on the highway and it happened and it scared the s@*# out of me . I was saying to myself " Lucky me it didnt' go from D to R " .
That is actually one of the very first safety changes in car manufactoring years and years ago. In the early days R was next to D and there were problems so they changed it up to PRND321. That and safety glass were two of the biggies.

When pulled over to get something out of his pocket he kinda turned away, and I just snuck my hand over to the shift knob and bumped it into neutral. When he applied the gas again, he thought he had broken the car or something. lol And it scared the crap out of him too.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw a bird headed straight for the passenger side of my truck. Just out of reflex I ducked thinking it was going to hit the window. When I did I hit the shifter with my knee. I tried hitting the gas and noticed it sounded really weird. I looked down at my gauge cluster and saw it was in Reverse! I immediately pulled over and the truck died. The bird hit the side view mirror, the truck started right back up and drove fine afterwards. Scared the **** out of me, especially since it was the middle of the night and I was in BFE!
