Should Vibes be Modified?

Post by MadBill »

What do you think? It's obviously a great little vehicle as it sits; should it be left just as the factory intended?

I tinted my windows and it really set the car off. It looks great! I have some graphics to add to it yet also. The only other exterior mod I want to do is some new wheels for summer driving. But they are not required, the stock wheels look nice. As far as under the hood, about the only mod I can do to my GT is a CAI, which I will be doing soon. Other than those few things, the car is great as is. I just wish the window tint was an option from GM.

The first thing that I would change is the way to open the rear hatch door. Unless you get the "power package", the only thing that unlock-lock that rear door is your key!!! Why don't they put a simple steel-wire just like the fuel door (I've got one on my old Mazda323 '88 and Accord '84) Most of the time we forget to lock that door!!! I've been told that there's no aftermarket kit to fit on that door (same thing for all 4 doors because it's not a steel rod connecting latch/lock but a flexible wire)

Heck yeah! Mod it! The engine in the GT begs to be modified! LoL It's a great, peppy car as it sits, but factory is lame. I plan on doing coil overs (Adjustable so I can raise it up for winter, slam it for summer. Plus the Vibe is unstable on corners), anti-swar bars, front adnd rear, 18" wheels/tires, tint, body kit, 3D tails. Engine wise, new fuel rails, fuel injectors, new coils, reprogram the computer for more power, S/C when it comes out for the GT, etc.

If you like it, mod it. If you do not, don't. I think that personalizing your car in some way is a-okay. I also thank that adding performance mods to your Vibe is a-okay. To each their own Vibe....

vibes are o.k to be modified as long as you have limits. some people just go crazy and can't stop. if you plan to re sell your vibe make sure you can undo your mods.

Unless you sell the car with the mods, not trade it in. You put a S/C and lower your car, that only increases it's resale value, but probably kills the trade in.And those are the 5 words that make me cringe: 'It is just a car'. ::cringes:: LoL I treat my cars like part of the family.

because Supra's are considered ricers too, and put some work into a turbo'd one and it is really really fast.yogips 15.7s in a quarter stock is not fast, it is quicker than most but not fast.

My vote is modify away however you like, its your car. I have only tinted so far and I do prefer a subdued clean look but appreciate some of the pimped up units if they are not to wierd. As far as performance, if you think you have the money to keep up with worn out parts and love to drive/race then by all means do it! . Enjoy the car just don't be suprised when you blow something up. I can't give priority to stuff like that anymore so I need to live vicariously through stories from fellow Vibe owners. Make us proud!

First 15.7 is not quick. I don't care what the engine size is or the price. You don't race engine sizes or pricetags.Second, it's not quicker than a Tiburon GT. The Tiburon GT runs 15.3 @ 91 mph (Motor Trend, July '02).Oh, wait. Car magazine tests are worthless. Nevermind.

The car is like a family member to me, also. Always has been that way. To mod my car would be like sending a child to college. I'm spending a bunch of money to help my "family member" reach its' full potential. But with the car, I am benefitting from it reaching its' potential, not the car itself. So I am being repaid in full from the increased performance and styling.

I definitely want to get my windows tinted. I can't believe it's not an option from GM. I also want to add the top spoiler to make it look sportier and also want bigger tires on mine. I currently have the 16" aluminum wheels. I also like those newere back tail Lights like the Lexus (you know the ones with the chrome background and the circles).

I didn't mean that my Vibe would reproduce, lol. I meant that I will be able to spend money on stuff other than photog's and DJ's and a reception. I can free up my money to personalize my Vibe to have its own "Vibe". Thus my to do list on my signature. It has grown I need to update soon. My bad I wasn't clear enough.

Anybody who is a car enthusiast should feel free to mod their car. Production cars make all kinds of concessions to suite the general public...things that enthusiast want, like a great sounding exhaust, power at the expense of gas mileage, etc. Happy modding

I am not a car person and never had put any money or time into a vehicle. But now, I seem to be converting. Id like to see some different tail lights. My only gripe about the vibe is the front end. Its not bad, but just doesnt do much for me. Reminds me of the Aztek front, which i think is horrid, but thats me. Anyways, I am looking forward to when more after market companies add vibe products to there product line. It seems a bit scares so far. Maybe I just cant find much.

I think that the Vibe should be modified! Whether it be a little or a lot of mods. There are so many different characteristics and personalities from the diverse people that drive Vibe's. Each person will make their Vibe unique through doing mods. Even if it's just tinted windows or as far as gutting the entire interior and exterior. I think that mods are good because they personalize you ride to make it fit you personality and of course you budget. I always get good comments on the Vibe from older people to high school kids. One of the pastors at my church liked it and even though the factory exhaust was aftermarket. When I told him it was stock he was impressed. And a bunch of the kids in the Sr. High youth group love the car.

GM probably finds it easier to just not offer it than to make sure they're not selling illegal products. Plus, how would they decide what percentage to offer. I could be wrong too.quote:I also like those newere back tail Lights like the Lexus (you know the ones with the chrome background and the circles).I think she's referring to the ones I see on the back of the newer altimas (see below) ...those are pretty sharp.
