Hi All,I bought my first Vibe in May 2006. It is a base 2006 with Moons & Tunes package and Abyss. I have already found your board useful for taking apart my dash to replace the radio, part numbers, etc.I am getting scared reading all of the problems everyone has had. I hope they are all solved for the 2006.Anyway, the only 'issue' I have is the blower motor for the HVAC doesn't seem to work well. The speed varies, as if it is not getting enough power. I have an appointment to bring it back to the dealer in a little more than a week. Anyone have any ideas before I bring it in? Is the blower motor behind the glove box?I have installed an Alpine CDA-9857 with the iPod control. The iPod rests comfortably in the glove box. I have ordered the better center console lid from Toyota, the outlet, cover and wire as well for the center console (stuff they decided not to install on the 2006 (and 2005 as I have read)). I have installed my portable XM, but I don't like it in the cup holder, so I ordered one of those pieces that installs it next to the right of the HVAC controls. I installed a ValentineOne radar detector under the mirror, hard wired it and have the 'concealed' display under the radio.I want the crossbars and bike rack for it or have considered a hitch for a bike rack that way - anyone do that? I couldn't turn the HVAC to defrost, but after taking the thing apart last week to wire the ValentineOne and putting it back together, it works. So, I figure some wire or something from my radio install was in the way.Anyway, off for now. I look forward to years of learning from your wisdom and sharing mine (if you can call it that) from what I figure out from tiral and error.Take care.
welcome to the site.just so you know... the reason people seem to have so many issues is that the contented people are not saying a thing so all you read is the bad.2004 Vibe owner here since 2003 and no issues at all to this date. Best car I have ever owned and other then a leaking battery and a MAF I probably broke myself... the car has not seen the dealership for work other then an oil change (which I also do myself since I work at a dealership)The blower motor is behind the glove box as far as I am aware. you'll need to remove the box to access it.

Hi Mavrik,Thanks. I kind of figured that everyone reports the problems but not the good things. That happens in my job too. People report when things don't work, but they don't say things are good when they are.I try to keep mine from the dealer, for the obvious inconvenience of bringing it in. In two months I put about 4500 miles on it. At 4200 I changed the oil myself. This is the easiest car I have ever put on jack stands to change the oil. Although the original Toyota filter was put on by Superman, I was able to get it off with the proper metal oil filter socket. The Vibe is good. I drove the first one, a 2004 I think, in Arizona as a rental, since then, I knew I'd buy one.Take care.

Welcome to GenVibe! Even though my oil pump went out, seized my engine and was rebuilt under warranty, I still love my Vibe. It is the best car I have owned!!!

welcome. yes, teh vibe is a very good and reliable car. unless you are pilaging it or happen to get the rare lemon, most owners do not have any issues.i had my 03 vibe gt for 2 yrs, never any major mechanical problems. only a few things that needed fixing or repairing and that was due to me or just normal wear and tear. and just to let you know, we LOVE PICS!
Vibe06, sorry to go off topic, but you mentioned you ordered the better console lid from Toyota for your 2006 Vibe. Is this the lid that makes the console higher so you can rest your arm on it - and provides 2 levels of storage? I have a 06 Vibe and would like to have the better lid too. Can you give me a Toyota part number or web link to order it? Thanks.
dalemccl ,Yes, that is the one. It just showed up yesterday, but I haven't installed it yet. But it is taller and has storage. The p/n is 58905-02210-B1. I ordered mine from http://www.genuineoem.com They showed list as $95.28 and they sell it for $75.50.I also ordered the wire to connect a power outlet in the center console too. The wire is a Toyota part, p/n 82166-01010. The list is $12.10, they sell it for $9.58. I ordered the outlet and cover from them as well. They were GM parts. The cover p/n 88971514. List $24.00, net $14.03. The outlet itself, p/n 88971515. List $26.16, net 16.42.Their service was decent, although I was not impressed with their website performance. I ordered the outlet and cover on July 5. It showed up on 7/19. The website still says the order is processing. I ordered the wire on 7/11 and the console on 7/13. They showed up on 7/20. The website still says the order is processing. So, if you don't mind not having proper updates and having the items appear whenever without a tracking number, it works. There are other sites as well, or your local Pontiac and Toyota dealers where you can order the parts. From another site http://pontiac.autowebaccessories.com I ordered the vinal floormats, the cargo nets and the hood cover.Good luck.
Welcome to GenVibe!Owned mine since April, 2004 and the only warranty-related problem I've had with it was an internal A/C switch that went out. Replaced quickly and without any followup issues. You're right about that first oil change; the filter is a pain to change.
Vibe06, thanks for the details and genuineoem link. I couldn't tell from the website what color the console lid is. I need the charcoal color, which is almost black. What color of the one you received? Thx.
