I have been told by a few people now that if I'm looking for some added power to just swap out my catalytic converter with a different more high-flowing cat. Do any of u know of a high-flow cat that would work/fit/be a good use of $$ on the vibe?
There are no Catback exhausts for my AWD Vibe so when I had my exhaust custom made from the downpipe back I had the shop install a magnaflow high-flow cat. I increased my exhaust pipe diameter to 2-1/4". I don't know what the part number is that they used though. But I would start with looking at magnaflow. Why not get a Catback exhaust?

yeah, I think I will eventually be able to get both, but when I look more at all the parts, I don't see how the heck I would put on an aftermarket cat. what would happen to the resonator? how would I be able to get it up to the exhaust manifold? Would I need custom piping done? Arrghh, this is frustrating. I'm now leaning towards skipping the high-flow cat idea. lol
Aftermarket cat's are welded on.JP performance makes a really sweet mid pipe. It's got a high flow cat, 2 resonators, manderal bends and it's stainles steel. [drool!]It bolts right up to your exhaust manifold or header if you got one. No welding so yo can do it yourself.

And what Lancer showed in the picture was a mid pipe. And that site only had the cat-back exhaust that was "coming soon for the matrix." I couldn't find anything about a mid pipe.

Just picture the sound it would make. but I don't feel good about doing it. With all of the warnings on pollution and globabl warming and such. Just wouldn't be right
You have to call them to order it. It's oneof those 'made to order' deals. I think it takes them a couple weeks to make it, too.I tried to have one of the local muffler guys mke me one, but they all said it would be illegal to be messing with the cat. The ONLY guy that woudl do it talked me out of using the cat. I blew out the first and it emptied into the second. Had the first hollowed out and the second removed. It turned out to be WAY to loud. So the idiot put a 'cherry bomb' where the 2nd cat should be. No suprise I fried it within 2 months. Then he whent and put a bigger on there. Then I got a highflow racing cat caus it was still pretty loud. Moron cuts up my Borla pipe and sticks the cat just infront of it! So, $250 later, I had it with him and now trying to save for the JP midpipe.
