New Vibe owner

Post by falderal »

I had been browsing genvibe for a few months now and back on July 3rd I read a thread about the current 0% financing offer. That night I went to gmbuypower.com and started searching local dealer's inventory for a Vibe with the combination of features I was looking for. I found 8 of them and contacted those dealers the next morning. Most quoted me sticker price, one quoted me $600 off and a second farther dealer quoted me $1100 off. I got the closer dealer to match that price. My wife and I went over there around 2pm and gave it a test drive. 2 hours later we had traded in our 1996 Dodge caravan with 147 thousand miles for our new Vibe with only 20. The Vibe is great. Coming from a rundown van everything about the Vibe is exciting. On Thursday I installed the ipod2car adapter. The sound is awesome compared to the old casette adapter plugged into the headphone jack that we had in the van. Being able to skip tracks and even fast forward and rewind through the HU makes listening to the iPod a lot more enjoyable.I think the only thing I'm having trouble with is the gas pedal. I don't know if it's the angle my foot hits it or what but the pedal seems really soft. If I try to just rest my foot on the pedal it sinks in and I'm suddenly doing 50mph. The gas pedal on the van had a lot more substance to it and I could easily maintain any speed I wanted. I haven't looked under the dash yet to see if there is anything to adjust. This is my first drive by wire throttle so I don't know if they are all like this or if mine is loose.Other than that everything is great. I'm on my 4th tank of gas and I'm averaging 32mpg almost double the 17mpg I was getting in the old van.-Chris

Congrats. I bought mine's during the 4th of July holiday. Most wouldn't give me any discounts with the 0% for 72 months. So I paid $17,999.50 cash with tax included. Not too bad considering the sticker was $20,200.And welcome. I'm a new member too.

Congrats on the Vibe! It's the same color as the one I bought in May. I would get the gas pedal looked at it. Mine is not soft at all, if anything it's a little stiff. There is a fairly good size coil spring behind it to provide tension. It might be not be lined up right on the pedal. Good Luck with it and enjoy your new ride!

Maybe drive over to the dealer and sit in some other Vibes to compare (making sure that it's a DBW model first).

Well I went and looked at the spring on the gas pedal this morning. It definately looks like it's attached correctly and I don't see any way to adjust it. I think I'll have to go to the dealer and compare to some other Vibes to see if they are all the same and my foot is just too heavy.

Welcome to GenVibe! I noticed the gas pedal was easier to press down than the one in my 2000 GMC Jimmy. You'll get use to it.
