High water

I was heading home in some flash flooding. To my left and in the middle of the water was a mini van stalled out in front of me was a explorer and then a pick up ( F150) Behind me was another pick up. The explorer turned around smart right? The pick up now in front of me went on. the water came up to the top of his wheels. It was the second detour I took so fare and the guy in the back egged me on so I went. I can say the little Vibe did just fine. went right though the water. None came in the doors either.

Making it through without stalling is good (or lucky). But now you have water in the rear wheel bearings and the front CV joints. Not cool. It may cause trouble in the next two years if not serviced. I've warned my wife to avoid damage like that, regardless.

I think it would depend on how deep it was on the vibe and how long you were in the water. but glad you car didnt stall

I would say it would take much more water exposure to cause problems. I would say the deep spot was only about 10-20 yards long. If not, Every time it rained and you hit a puddle there would be problems. Going though deep snow would do the same thing.

hey congrats on makin it through... i could never do that, i'm scared of high water now, since i hydrolocked my 90 300ZX on my way to the dmv. yeah, it sucks repo, thanks for the info on the damage

Turn around, don't drown! That's what I would have done, in a heartbeat. Good thing you don't have a cold air intake, or at least I'm guessing you don't have one since your engine still like runs and stuff.Hopefully nothing bad comes of the experience... Glad you made through it ok.

yea i hydrolocked my vibe back in May and boy did it ever suck!! but now im hella more cosious when ever it rains or flasfloods. but glad to hear you made it through a o k.

what about making a lil 12"- 2' high platform in the front yard and park on it... itll give you more clearance from the water... just a DIY suggestion to help.Just my 2 cents

im parked on top of a hill. but this was when i was driving at night and couldnt see the water at all. but that is a good idea though.

I have a short ram. I was going slow and it was at an intersection. I would never try that on a county or state two lane road. The road might not be where it used to be. I did it there before in my mountaineer with out a thought since it was much higher in stants.
