Back in the day, I had some white LED's in my license plate lights, they were dim...I had some white LED's in the dome lights, they were dim... I also had some under-dash LED pods mounted, had some under the radio bezel... Here's a link to all of the pics of the ol' beast when I owned it of the things I did to it at one point in time or another.Things like replacing the tail light bulbs with LED's isn't a good idea, those are going to be too dim to be safe... Somebody was making a center high mounted stop light LED module conversion for the Vibe/Matrix a while back but I can't remember where the details are on those. That was pretty neat though.

those picutres of what you did with the interior leds are awesome. I've always wanted to do something like that and now I see how it can be done. Could u tell me more about 'em?Where did u get them? what r they? how much do they cost? how r they wired?thnx in advance
Glad ya liked it, it was pretty cool. I've got a couple of threads about it: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id ... d=12501The pods under the dash that I bought aren't available anymore but there are similar ones from superbrightleds.com (except they don't offer the color changing ones.) It was easy, essentially: Connected an Add-A-Circuit to the CIG fuse, so the power is switched with the ignition. Got a Toyota fog light switch and mounted that in the blank to the left of the wheel. Hook up power, hook up ground to the kick panel bolt (after removing kick panel trim) and stick the lights under the dash with double-sided tape. The hardest part for the radio bezel LED's was the drilling and mounting. Once that was done, I just took the + leads and jammed it into the back of the green wire on the rear defrost harness which is the voltage for the illumination, grounded the - leads to the radio bolt. Viola, those had a source of power way close by and were able to be dimmed right with the dimmer control, plus were only on when the headlights were on. You shouldn't spend a whole lot doing this, you can get a nice light show for under $30.

I am considering putting some soft blue or red LED's under the window switch panel on the driver side door. Not sure how difficult it will be as I saw a post a while back about someone doing this.
I am mostly interested in the ones under the dash. I'm liking the idea of adding more red into the Vibe So would it be possible to hook up the ones under the dash so that they are also controlled by the dimming knob and only go on when the headlights go on?
Quote, originally posted by Benny »I always thought it would be cool to have led tail light and trunsignal like what the new school buses haveIt's a pain in the (removed) to retrofit stuff like that. They have 'LED Bulbs' out there that will directly replace the stock ones, but they don't work nearly as well because the lenses aren't designed to handle them. You'd need to build a setup that had a bunch of those LEDs attached to the inside of the lens, so you weren't trying to reflect, but directly blast the LED light out the back of the car.How you'd do that, I have no idea! But it'd be cool.
