kind of a long story...i've got an alpine 9847 with the ka-420i ipod adapter. once before (back in november or so) i had some weird problems with it when it was exceptionally cold (for texas, teens and 20s) for a few days. it was suggested then that maybe there was a loose solder joint in my wiring harness. at the time, i pulled it and tested all of the connections. no dice. i put everything back in and after the weather warmed up, everythign was fine.now, i'm starting to have trouble again. for the last couple of weeks i've just seen extremely odd behavior that corrects itself either later in the same trip, or after the next time i kill my engine. for instance, on my way to houston friday night, while listening to music off of my ipod, i hit the "song forward" button. instead of skipping forward a track, the unit went black, the 'ALPINE' scrolling banner that usually plays on power-up scrolled by, and then it started playing again from the exact same spot. i hit the "song back" button, and it worked perfectly normally. i made a pit stop about 20 minutes later, and when i got back in, everything was working normally.i've only seen this sort of behavior with the song forward/back buttons, and the "mix" button. does this sound to anyone like it may still be a problem with the harness? or is it possibly my head unit is just on the way out?
i've had trouble with cd playback (the same behavior) as well. as a matter of fact, when i'm having trouble with it, i can switch from the ipod to a cd, and the problem stays regardless of the source.
