question about turbo for base vibe?

Post by scvibe30 »

what's up yall i am thinking of getting a the turbo kit for the 1zz-fe. my vibe is a 04base model auto. would i have to change anything to put the turbo on. so far it just stock but i am going to put either a sr or cai intake in and magna flow exhaust. i see at 8psi it would run safely on stock engine and another 75-100whp would be awsome!!!anyone got this kit from turbokits.com?

theres at least 1 or 2 or more matrix owners with Auto Turbo's on matrixowners.org. But with supercharging you get the SC right from toyota and its proven to work great with the auto tranny. It is also cheaper than a turbo kit. Ill try to find a link...heres one guy from MO.org with a turbo auto basehttp://www.nicksturbomatrix.com/

Faultline is the FI Vibe pioneer here. If I was going to turbo my Vibe I'd pick his brain.

anytime you FI an NA engine, you run the risk of voiding warranties. if you are concerned about that, it's your daily driver, and you cannot afford a brand new engine, then i'd suggest going with a s/c. they will at least warranty it for 1 yr (GM) I believe. at the end of the day, it really depends on what you want to accomplish. Mav and I have discussed the future of his vibe several times, as we're still not quite sure what to do with it after we get his STI next year. we are contemplating turning it into our autocross vehicle so we don't screw our daily drivers up or wear down the cars, etc. if so, then we'd do a s/c on the vibe because you want all the low end and constant power and torque there vs a turbo which is power after boost (usually around 2500-3500 rpms). there are a lot of threads about s/c vs turbo, etc on here.... it's just weeding through which has substance and which has fluff. I work for a pontiac dealer and worked for a toyota dealer. Toyota parts is the reason i picked the pontiac not to mention employee price but after talking to the district service rep for pontiac you will have no warranty if you put any sort of supercharger (turbo's included) on the vibe excluding the 2003 vibe with the GM supercharger. The TRD supercharger will void the warranty but if you have $3000 for the upgrade you can afford to fix almost anything that may break.
