It looks like I'll be taking advantage of the 0% financing in the next day or two so being the mod happy person I am, I decided to start my research. It seems quite a few of you have lowered your cars with springs but I haven't seen much talk about changing the struts. Coming from the VW camp, I have always bought my lowering kits as a package (struts/springs). Most cars have OE struts that do not take very well to the additional stiffness of the new springs. So in short, I was curious as to how the Vibe's react to the new springs on stock struts? Has anyone seen early strut failures with lowering springs?
there has been no reports that i recall of OE struts having problems of failing. i have the lowest drop from teins S-tech springs and have not had a problem with my struts.
i think one member posted recently they they had fake teins and one strut blew out, but those im pretty sure were the fake teins so you never get the great quality of a real one. If you have the money i think anyone would recommend the tein coilovers which is a strut coil combo that can be adjusted for the height you want, but they are like $1200. Tein also does sell struts alone for different applications (drifint, rally, etc.) but i never checked if they fit the vibe/trix.
