Morning all,Yesterday as i pulled out of a parking lot in my '06 Base with auto tranny with 4000 miles and after accelerating up to a stop sign, the tranny would not downshift. I accelerated from the stop up to 35 mph and the RPM's were at 4000 i let off the accelerator, and the tranny would not down shift. after accelerating again i could not get past 40mph. Sitting at a stoplight, it would not go under 3000 rpm's.I pulled over and called Roadside. and went through all that jazz. I wont give my opinion on that right now...Long story short, after it was towed to the dealer, they drove it around, hooked it up to the computer and checked for tsb's they couldn't find a single problem. Everything was fine. That was my biggest fear. I would have been ok with "your tranny is shot, or a vacuum hose is the problem. But this just plain doesnt help...luckily my family was not with me. what about next time...can anyone think of something that i could check for or have the dealer check for?
Did you mean that when you got up to speed and let off the accelerator the tranny would not shift up into higher gears? Stupid question, got to be asked, no offense intended, but are you sure you had the shift lever in "D"? No idea about the 3000 rpms at a stop, that's just wrong. since the tranny is somewhat controlled by the car's computer, and in the 06 the throttle is electronic, I'd suspect something wrong there, either a bad computer, or perhaps a loose connection or ground, causing the computer to sense incorrectly perhaps eitherr the rpms or the speed, or some such thing. I agree though, the uncertainty is almost worse than having a hard failure
haha, no offense. I popped in into other gears and tried o/d off and on. It just seemed to be stuck in a certain gear. 2nd i am betting. Not sure what was up with the RPM's, but i am on my way to get it right now...we'll see if it does this again.

Unfortunately you have no choice but to continue to drive in until it happens again... The good news is at least it was towed to the dealer and is on record of this issue. I used to work at Roadside, back when it was a lot different 1997... I am sure it is contracted with different people now too and service has suffered.
