i finally was able to bring my vibe into the dealer today for them to fix it. i also noticed the passenger side back was also wet. it got wet today from just a little bit of rain. hopefully they can fix it.on saturday i sprayed a good part of a can of underbody spray, i thought i had fixedit....apparently not.i hope they fix it, and i hope i get it back tonight!
thanks...i just called them and told them...the guy working on the car got it to leak, so now he is trying to find it. that means it doesnt look like it will be done tonight . at least they found it and are going to fix it. if anyone else has any ideas, let me know...thanks
another update (if you guys care)i just talked to the dealer about the leak, and they cannot find it, although they did get it to leak. they want to take the passenger seat out, and rip the carpet up, and take it through the car wash again, and see where it is coming from. looks like its gonna be awhile before i get my car back hopefully this will help

nope, i got 2 seats back...i hope they can fix it tomorrow...otherwise, i dont know what i am going to do...they did say that they will make it right...i also mentioned them replacing the carpet too, so maybe that will happen once we know it is fixed ill keey yall updated
Yes, do make sure that the issues are 100% resolved before making them replace the carpet. I wish you luck! If there is one thing they need to work on with these cars, I'd say it is in this area! These things leakin' are a bit too common it seems. Do keep us posted.

well...today is day 2 of the search and destroy of the leak....hopefully they can fix it. they will get it untill the fix it.i told them, if i find any more ideas as to where it is leaking, i would give them a call. the plan on taking the passenger seat out, and pulling the carpet back, then taking the car through the car wash (at least it should be nice and clean) and see where the leak is coming from.if both the passenger front, and passenger back are wet, does that mean it is coming from the roof? or from the floor?the ran a hose on both the windshield and the roof rack for about an hour yesterday, and were not able to solve the issue. but it did get wetthis is frustrating...but i know the issue will get solved
just got off the phone with the dealer....they took the carpet out, took the seat out, ran it through a car wash, and nothing...they are trying to tell me that it was still moist from before cuz the ac was clogged. im confused....any help would be appreciated if someone posts an idea, i will call them and let them know...thanks
Quote, originally posted by melders »the guy working on the car got it to leakI am confused! First, your car gets wet by you driving in the rain. Then, the dealer says he got it to leak. Now, he is saying it is a clogged A/C?Something doesn't quite add up. It sounds like the dealer is now just passing the buck. I would insist on them going through the car wash multiple times and see if they can find the leak. Apparently it is a hard-to-find tricky leak.

UPDATE:the dealer could not get my car to leak yesterday...i had them power wash it, the took the carpet out, and the seat out, and could not find anything. when it picked it up, i took it right to the car wash, to see if i could get it to leak...nothing. so when i got home, i went investigating...just to make sure it didnt leak in the car wash.i pulled the carpet up on the passenger side, and i found a bunch of silicone around the floor plugs, and around anything that lead to the outside...the ac drain, im guessing the o2 sensor (that goes to the exhaust) so, maybe they fixed it. but they told me, when it rains, if it gets wet, bring it right to us.it kinda smells in there, but im guessing its from their cleaning...so does anyone have any ideas for something that i can spray in there to get the smell out? once we know for sure that it is fixed, i am gonna talk to them about replacing all the carpet in there...because i know it is gonna stink!
There have been an issue with some plug that the dealers are supposed to install before delivering you the car. Plugs were missing, and the carpet of some member was getting wet. You could check if they are still there on your vibe. They are right under the front doors. They are using those hole to tie down your car in the transport. Maybe you lost the one on the passenger side, and that your dealer is looking for a leak from the roof when the water is probably comming from the floor. That would explain why the car didn't get wet when going thrue the carwash, but did get wet when you were driving it.That was my 0.02$ on that one.

High pressure is defeating the purpose 10,000 p.s.i. for 10 minutes doesn't give the water a chance to find a path or hole. at work we only use 30 p.s.i but use alot and (I mean alot, 30,000 gallons in 8 minutes.) the pressure from a normal water hose is enough you just have to run alot of it over the vehicle while someone is inside starting low on the body and work your way up to the top. maybe your dealer should outsource it to a automotive water leak specialist.
miked:are these plugs on the frame? i got an underbody wash when i went through the car wash, and it did not leak...they said they took it through a wash with underbody, and sat on the underbody wash things for a few minutes? and nothing
i say if your home, try taking the hose and running it on top of the car for a bit and then the bottom (underside) of the car for a while and see if water gets in. like what scherry2 said.
melders, does your Vibe have the moon roof? If it does check to see if the drain holes are clogged. To check, open the roof, in each front corner is a tray with a hole, get a cup of water and dump into the tray near the holes. The water should drain near the front wheels/door.My wife's 2003 Vibe started filling with water on the drivers side when it rained. After one storm I went out and saw the water ran down the windshield pillar, behind the trim and onto the floor so I knew it was the moon roof. The tray filled with water and overflowed instead of draining. To unclog the drain I got my air compressor and blow gun and regulated the air pressure down to 10 psi and blew out the hole. Then I did the water test and it drained fine OUTSIDE the car. Haven't had anymore problems so far.
no moonroof....just the basics....it has not rained yet, so i do not know if it fixed or not...by the way...welcome to genvibe.com! i love this site, i hope that you will like it as well
hey all....good news, it seems that my vibe is fixed. it poored yesterday quite a bit of the day, and when it wasnt pooring, it was raining pretty good. when i got out of work, i checked it and it was good. i drove home about 10 miles, and i checked it when i got home, it was good, so it seems fixed, then i also did some driving later on in the night, and it was still raining still dry. apparently all they did was just put a crapload i mean a crapload of silicone on the floor and all the parts where it would leak. i will keep everyone updated, but it was a weird leak i guess...i hope that it is fixed...i am spraying febreze on it about once a week, hopefully that will take care of the smell...it is not bad, but i am just preventing it..thanks again for all the help...i love this forum(i can try to take pictures if yall want)
go to the pet store and get something called Simple Solution it is an enzyme that will kill odor causing bacteria. Apply a ton of it let soak over night then wetvac. After you do that bring it to a dealer and have them put it on a ozone machine. That should take care of any mildew from the water.
I took delivery of my 2006 vibe on Wednesday 8-2-06, I returned it to the dealership on Friday 8-4-02, it seems that I need to carry buckets with me when I turn the A/C on, mine is leaking from the dash somewhere, worse on the passenger side, but also on the drivers side, that's how I knew it was leaking the first day, came home with wet socks and shoes. I also knew something was wrong because it was making a terrible noise on the passenger side (coming from the dash) while making a left or right turn, and some light sqealing. I see this isn't the first time someone has had a leak unfortuneatly, praying that mine will be fixed come Monday morning, it should have been fixed yesterday as far as I'm concerned. As long as it doesn't leak anymore and my carpet doesn't stink, if it does, I think I'll be swapping for a different vibe from the dealership. If anyone has any advice for me I would gladly accept it. Leaky car with 124 miles.
did it leak during a rain storm or when you ran the A/C? if your hearing water sloshing, either its the fresh air vent under the cowl or the drain tube is blocked off completely pushing water back into the A/C unit. hope they get it fixed.
sounds like the drain tube on the pass side....i dont know what the dealer did to fix mine...i do know they put lots of silicone on the passenger side...at every single place it could possibly leak...good luck with it. your lucky you have the choice to swap it with another one.
No rain, just A/C, and I did hear some sloshing of water and what sounded like alot of air or something, and then drops and drops of water. I hope they get it fixed too, I'm just sooo dissapointed with only having it for one day, other than the buckets I love my new car!!! Thanks for the info.
Thanks for the info, I don't think the drain tube is even attached. I don't know yet that I'll have the option of swapping, but I can stop payment on the check, there's no way it's had time to clear, until I can think about what I want to do. Although they don't have the color in stock that I want which is a big big deal to me, they had to do a dealer trade to find me this one, anyways if they can get mine fixed I will keep it, stinky or not I love it... Thanks again, and I'm glad that your's is fixed, I guess I'll find out Monday morning.
