good hotels in Montreal area?

Phil and I will be in Montreal Aug 11 (Fri) - 13 (Sun). we are looking to book a nice hotel that's in downtown or a good area that has lots of things to do in walking distance. we're also wanting to set up a meet with everyone too, so what is a good central location or area to do it all? i really want to go out either friday or saturday night either clubbing or to the bars so i can see the nightlife. any ideas or suggestions?? Thanks!

There is a holiday inn near the downtown area close to all of the action. For clubbing hit Crescent St. For drinks go to St. Denis street....IM me for more details Hope and I will also try to set up a meet!
