Using Vibe Navigation in a Pontiac Grand Am?

Post by timmie88 »

I don't know if anyone will know the answer to this, but I figure I'll ask, since it won't hurt.Last year I bought Jahntassa's Navigation system (complete with antenna, cd changer and cables) and installed it our 2005 Vibe. Unfortunately my other half doesn't like the Vibe and insisted on going back to a Grand Am (we had one before the Vibe). So we just picked up a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am with only 13k miles this weekend. But I can't bear the thought of losing the Navigation system. Are the connectors remotely similar? Or am I crazy to want to attempt this?Should I just give up and sell the Vibe with the Nav installed, or should I remove it and sell it separately?Decisions, decisions...Any advice appreciated. Thanks,Tim

Well, you might have two issues.1. I don't know if the radio hole in the Grand Am is large enough for the vibe NAV. I -think- the Vibe radio is like, double-din oversized, so it's wider than normal. However, I could be wrong2. The connector is the 'same' connector, but wired differently. It doesn't have the ACC line in it, you'd need to do some rewiring to make them work right, I think..As for selling it, well, you see how I did.. That NAV system should still work in all Vibes, no matter what year. You might be able to get a higher selling point with it installed? There are a lot of aftermarket NAV systems out there now, fairly cheap too.All hard decisions..

It should all be the same, all of GM's cars run the Same of 3 types of headunits. The cars have the same unless you get the 6-disk, then the trucks share 2 types, then the 6-disk available in the cars is the same as the 6-disk in the trucks.

Hi, I am not a Vibe owner but very interested to see if the Vibe navigation system would work on my 02 Avalanche with 1.5 DIN without Class 2 databus. You probably could get a factory navigation work in your Grand Am but not with this Vibe set up. I believe there was a guy who retrofitted GM Bose navigation into his 03 Grand Am from a 03 newer GM truck. It even shows a cool arrowhead on screen when turned on! http://www.chevyavalanchefancl...74257

Yes the Vibe system should work in your Avalanche if you're sure it's not a Databus vehicle.
