New, needing a lil help

Post by Tabatha »

Hello all. I just got my girlfriend a 03' Vibe (registered her on the site). I have a Pioneer AVIC N2 with XM, that I want to hook up in her car (have the same HU in her truck and paid out my ### to get it installed). So, I want to give this a try and do it myself. I'm pretty much old school hooking these units up and all the adapters, harnesses and that nature are new to me, but I know the basics (I hope. lol).I've dont alot of reading on your site (and you guys are VERY HELPFUL and FRIENDLY). And I got many of my questions answered. But I want to be for certain, I get this right so I dont blow anything up.I'm going to be hooking the deck up with the nav, xm, subs, 2-channel and 4-channel (if need be).I like the way the interiors sound, so if I could keep the stock speakers and run it with the 4-channel, that would be great. But if I need to get all new speakers, thats fine as well. I'm like everyone else and if I dont need to spend anymore money than what I have to is a beautiful thing. But I've read about the stock speakers being 2om (I believe) and aftermarket radios put out 4oms, I'm going to obviously run into a problem.I've read about the harness (Scosche FAI-3A) that I need to get for this to work. Now is this going to let me use the existing interior speakers with the aftermarket HU? Or is this something that I just need "all together regardless"?I dont plan on her selling this car becuz she loves it, but just to be on the safe side, I dont want to poke many holes, or alot of splicing if I dont have to. And I could just have a very easy uninstall back to stock. Thanks in advance for all your input! And I'm sorry for the question (which I'm sure has been asked and answered about a million times). I just want to confirm the ways I actually "can" do this with ease.

Welcome to GenVibe! If I knew much about the Vibes audio and electronics I would answer your questions. There are others that are very well versed in this area and your questions should be answered before you know it. I just wanted to welcome you to the site.

in 03 they called the combination sunroof and audio amp +tweeters the "moon & tunes package". If her vibe has that, then the stock speakers would be 2 ohm, but if not, then the stock speakers should be 4 ohm. Does the car have a sunroof?

Thanks alot! She's exicted and I cant tell you how many cars we went threw for her to find something she really wanted. I just wanted her to have something she can save gas with and get out and have some fun. Just to "get away" by herself with. But she wanted the same setup (audio wise) thats in her truck. So her wish came true. I'm sure she'll be on here soon enough asking on how she can do this and do that to her lil baby. lol. But once again, thanks for the welcome. :-)

You need a mounting kit, wiring harness and antenna adapter. This kit on Ebay has everything you need.http://cgi.ebay.com/PONTIAC-VI...wItemJust splice the harness into the pioneer harness, then plug it in. Very simple. Just wire it up and don't worry about the amp. It should be fine. If you have problems with it, you can bypass it later.Good luck!

Are you saying that you have a 4-channel amp of your own? If so, it'll sound better, but that is a much more involved install and you should get someone to help you.The stock amp will run all of the car's speakers, and you can plug your HU right into the factory wiring harness.

I should be set nowYeah, you don't need it- try using the factory amp first. It's decent. However, I would suggest you still get the Scocshe converter (only like $17) to put between the HU preamp outs and the factory amp. Otherwise you may get some noise.I think everyone else has got you all set up otherwise.

I just got mine 2 months ago. I got a 02 Mustang GT 3 months ago to have something to toss around, and I got the Charger to just cruise in (tints, 22's, pioneer avic z1), and I'll spank my toss around car. lol. That car is unbelievable. I actually wanted the ol lady to get the magnum at first, then I was going to give her my charger and I was going to get a SRT8, but she didnt like the whole "wagon" deal. Which she would have not thought about, and the taking my charger situation....she wanted something "lil & cute". And she can get all the mods she wants for it. lol.

Thanks!
