if only i could think of a topic name..

Post by ashleymc_38 »

So, i'm fairly new here...well...I just don't post a lot but I want to start becoming more active in the forums because of all the help i know this site will bring to me and my vibe. But anyways, I see that there is a meet coming up this month, unfortunately i will be unable to attend, but besides this meet coming up, is there usually more? Or is this like the grand finale where a lot of people show up? I'm just trying to get to know some more people on here through some chats, emails, messages, etc. etc. before i feel like a dipwit and go out to a meet and not really..well...know anybody. I'm really shy but if you're gonna be nice to me well i'd love to be ur friend. But i wanna know more about what happens at these meets. I went to a j-body meet in Minnesota about two summers ago and it was a bunch of drunks at a persons house talking about cars 50% of the time and drunkin stuff the other 50%..lol. It was still fun though. Plus, a guy got locked underneath the deck...ahh..memories..haha.But let me know about these meets that go on here in Michigan or nearby. I would like to join but first i think i have some introducing myself to some of you people on here!

I haven't seen alot of Vibe meets past the normal big one every year (every board seems to have one, next weekend is Motorstadt for the Audi/VW guys), but there are several "hangouts" on the weekends. Redline is every Friday night starting around 9 (11 mile and inkster in farmington hills), and there's always woodward on the weekends (hawthornes specifically).

Sorry to hear you can't make it to the big Michigan meet this year, it's a blast! And not to worry, we aren't a bunch of drunks hanging out at someone's house. We actually will also try to organize a smaller mini Michigan meet toward the end of the summer/early fall. Here are links to the past Michigan rallies so you can get an idea of what goes on...2005 Michigan: http://www.genvibe.com/html/me...shtml2004 Michigan: http://www.genvibe.com/html/me...shtml2003 Michigan: http://www.genvibe.com/html/me...shtmland others here: http://www.genvibe.com/html/fe...shtmlThe Ohio meets are held in the Columbus-area, so depending on how far that is for you, we always have a few Michigan and other states join up with us too.

well, we can't make it (again) this year, but perhaps the next. we'll see what happens...also, i would say that the meets are fun and no, most of it isn't drunken idiots talking about cars. that comes later at the hotel. we've gone to plenty of meets and not known anyone, not really chatted to them but only from posting. i highly recommend if you can, go to a meet or two. the big MI Super Meet is the largest of course and well worth it imo. we had a lot of fun and really enjoyed meeting so many members face to face!

I've been to Supermeets II and III at Joseph Pontiac in Fenton, MI. It was well worth the 5 hour drive each time, but our summer schedule is much more crowded this year, and we may not make it this time. It's fun to meet & talk with other Genvibers and try to guess/match their cars and screen names from all the pictures posted here.Being one of the 'seasoned citizens' among GenVibers (age 53), and having a son who's just 15, we're not into the bar scene afterwards, so we just leave when we're good & ready! Being from a Tim Horton's-free-zone (Indiana) there's a Tim Hortons in Fenton, too.For me, the primary entertainment event last year (for me) was ragingfish (Mike) gutting much of the interior of his Vibe and installing the GPS antenna on the roof! -->But if you're not into looking at Vibes and talking about Vibes, and seeing the incredible mods some GenViber's have done, that's fine, too. Just come for a little conversation! There's no implied 'minimum time' commitment. And if you get really bored, there's shopping nearby! It's not like you're stuck in the middle of nowhere with a bunch of gearheads and can't escape!Hope to see you in Fenton on June 24th.

The Vibe rallys are awesome I think. Woderful time to talk to the members an al that. If you want crazy party type meets go to the Matrix forum. I went to a Matrix meet last spring and we ended up making napalm and burning palettes in his back yard, then cruised out to a local underground car meet at like 12am.One thing for sure though this year at Fenton, when we all roll out togather as a group we need to designate two people to block off the road so our group does not get separated again like it did last year. Also has to make the sure leader will pull over to the side of the road when the group gets separated. You gotta have guts to drive in a convoy and risk doing crazy stuff to keep it togather but it is definately worth it to see like 20 Vibes all in a row

lol, no, when I went to Toledo for a Matrix rally, if the group got split up by a light, the leader would pull over on the side and wait for the group to form again and when traffic clears we would roll out togather. It's funner driving in convoys.

With his car sitting perpendicular to the flow of traffic, he successfully puts himself in the perfect position to be T-boned! That's what he did last year when we were leaving the MI meet. Merzbow, with us being right next to you as you did that, that was scary man!

(removed)...come on man...add some spice to your life. Do something CAAARAAZZZYY! Pretend you own the road and you have a force field around your car. It's fun sometimes.I wont do anything stupid this year, I promise. I'll abide by all laws and drive like a responsible 19 year old adult.

the 500+ car convoy for the C7 cruise in Toronto was a lot of fun. It left in groups of about 30 cars per group, no cops pulled anyone over but they were out there keeping an eye on us all.As long as your not doing anything to attract attention then cops should leave you alone for the most part. Its large groups of people doing silly things with their cars that get the attention.
