Thought I would throw this in as well:I repainted my engine cover, was originally red. The red was chipping and I didn't clear-coat it or anything so it was beginning to not look so great.I sanded it down best I could, and then started up with the Duplicolor Mirage paint system.2-3 coats of black undercoat6 coats of the Mirage paint2-3 coats of a top coat laquer thingEntire process took a couple hours, and went smoothly till the can sputtered on my 2nd to last Mirage coat, which left me with the huge drip on the left side. (ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)You can't see it in the picture, but in bright light there's basically a rainbow of colors that the shield shows, depending on how you look at it. I would recommend these paints highly, it's pretty cool :DI'm currently looking for another engine cover that has been unpainted, so that I can paint that one as well w/o all the flaws. Mb I can find one in a junk yard for cheaper than it would cost @ GMParts. Then again, if I can find a carbon fiber one, it'll be mine as soon as I see where to order it
I actually go through with a towel everytime I wash my car, I don't like a dirty engine compartment Also all my driving is City/Highway, so unless I am heading to a race in the summer, my car never sees any dirt/gravel roads.
anyone know the pat # for this cover..i need a new one..pretty bad

I have two for sale if you're interested...I tried painting them and screwed them up...so all you would have to do is remove the paint and start over again...

After seeing your signature and fights about premium gas, I thought you had a GT! In that case, I may be interested. What do you think it would cost to ship one over here to 92113 (SD, CA) and how hard would it be to get the messed up paint off?

As for paint removal, it's likely not hard, the paint isn't really holding on at all...I just didn't have the patience to sit there and peel it all off...I just checked, and one of them almost ALL of the paint came off on it's own, so it'd likely be easy to get the rest off with just a little bit of work...I can get it shipped to you for $7.50. That'll get it to you in about 3-4 days.

It'll give me something to tinker with without having to take mine off and screw it up! BTW, that CF one is bad-@$$, but I don't want to spend that kind of cash on it!

i've only bought one thing from GMpartsdirect and will never again. poor service, slow mailing, and a nightmare to deal with when they screw something up. plus, this is a very old thread! over a year ago, wonder if mike still has his engine cover left!
