There's still interest in the Vibe!

Post by Jahntassa »

So I drove over to my wife's place of work (local college) to pick up her paycheck. Because, hey..why does she need to wake up! Anyway, I pull into the parking lot, park, and turn on the remote take-over (part of the remote start, keeps the car running with the keys out of the ignition), and I see one of the security guards walk up to me. I'm like.."Er..I didn't park in the handicap spot!"But as I didn't really say that, he pauses as I get out of the car, and he's like, "Hey, how do you like this car?"So, caught a little off base because I think that's the first time someone actually just..asked a question like that.. I let him know that I love it!He says his daughter is looking into one, asked some questions. Asked if it was the same as the Matrix (so at least he knew something!) I explained that I had the GT, and the base model was a little more laid back, but handled pretty much just as well. He asked about gas mileage, I told him what I got on average, and what I had read here.Gave him a little post-it with Genvibe on it and went on my way!Just thought it was nice that despite how badly Pontiac seems to want to screw over the Vibe, that people are still interested in it!

I have had a couple people ask me about mine. One guy at work has asked me more than once about mileage, etc, and a couple weeks ago he very proudly came to my desk to tell me that he and the wife had just purchased an '05 Frosty Vibe, and they absolutely LOVE it. Now he gives me gas mileage updates every time they go somewhere. Kind of gives you a good feeling, doesn't it?

I get the "So what car are you driving?" at autocross sessions and I reply "The Vibe." which is usually followed by "HUH?" or an expression of such. To which then I reply with "The orange car?" at which time the expression changes and I get an "Oh... right... the Vibe. Looks nice."

Now they have to get used to your current car.Back to original post, I think it is great that people are still interested in them. Vibes are very popular here in Houston. See them everywhere now. Even saw a fusion one yesterday (and those are rare around here).

I have had 6 people ask me about mine since I have had it. When I first got it I only saw older people driving them. Now I am seeing more middle aged and twenty-somethings driving them. When I first got mine, it took 2 months before I saw another Vibe. Now, I see at least one Vibe almost everytime I drive.

There's 3 on my street including mine, the parent's have one, a friend's neighbor who kept seeing mine parked in front of his house got one, a co-worker got one for his wife's car, and I see at least one, usually 3, whenever I'm on the road. And of those on the road, I'm seeing more & more 06's

(referring to my "driving" when i'd take them to lunch in the vgt ) still do miss it.and i do see the new girl/owner driving it here or there, but every time, her window cracked and a cigarette hanging out... grrr!!!!

I've seen a fairly even mix of 03-04 and 05-06. Heck, there was even an Envy one around here for a good while! Haven't seen it recently though..

I live in the mid-Michigan area where the GM influence is HUGE. I see probably about 5-10 Vibes each day on my 1/2 hour commute to work. When I was trying to find my Vibe I did a search and there is something like 25 or so Pontiac dealerships within 50 miles of me. Good and bad I guess. Good because there's dealership support nearby if needed. Bad because it makes my car less unique. I suppose a s/c would set it apart . . . . j/k

yeah i love when people ask about my vibe. this guy i was parked in front of was talkin to his boys about his 98 celica, and i told him that i've got a 2ZZ engine from the gt-s in my car and his mouth hit the ground. so of course, he wanted to see under the hood for himself, thinking that i did a swap. i told him that that's how the gt's come, and that it's the matrix's fraternal twin. then he got all kinds of interested, askin questions about how high it revs, how fast it can go, if it can beat or at least keep up with a gt-s, things like that. then he started talking about getting one. i told him he'll probably love it and was gonna take him for a ride, but his friends were gettin lonely and wanted to leave, so i told him about the site and all that other great stuff.it's good to know that the car is still hitting the target audience, although it seems that the "younger generation" bullseye on said target is damn near microscopic, the rest of the target saying "geezers", and one other little spot saying "everyone else".(no offense if there ARE any "geezers" on here lol)
