I have a constant squeak when shifting into First and Third Gear. The squeak is not from the clutch but instead from the linkage. Does anybody know if there is a lube point i have been missing for 28,000 miles? Or perhaps is related to the clutch problems? And if i need to take it into the dealership will my system cause warranty problems? Any help is deeply appreciated!!
Has anybody else experienced the above problem (the squeak when shifting into first and third)? My baby has started doing this and I am going to take him into Pontiac but would like some input as to possibilities. My mom says that it sounds to her like something is loose. The shifter feels loose but I thought that meant it was breaking in.Any thoughts?
Just because you see Charlie doesn't mean I am a he....sometimes Charlie can be a she!!!!
I had a squeak form the cable connected to the clutch pedal, but this sounds like something different. When I replaced my tranny, I noticed that the points where the linkages attached to the tranny were all gunked up, so it might be good to check them on yours. http://forums.genvibe.com/zerofile/6856/5speed.jpgIf I remember right, there is a clip that slides off, and then the linkage end lifts free of the tranny. (might need a screwdriver to lift the hook end of the clip clear of the shaft to get it off? can't remember ) I haven't looked inside the center console in a while, can't remember if there is any convenient way to lubricate anything in there.
My GT 6 speed has had a minor squeek for a couple years. When it was under warranty, the dealer lubricated it. That fixed it for only a month or so. I think it's coming from the same location as Joatmon shows in the pic. It's not loud, so I haven't bothered with it.
