First ticket in over 3 years!

Post by valjean »

This past weekend I was taking my first 100+ mile trip in my 3 week old Vibe. I got stopped for doing 87 in a 70. Fortunately the cop only gave me a 10 over ticket, which is only 1 point on the freeway. But when he looked up my record, it showed that I got a ticket in December of '99 and that it was never paid. So apparently I've been driving on a suspended license since 01/31/00. He couldn't just let me go and tell me get it taken care of, instead he wrote me another ticket for it, which counts as a misdemeanor. Now whether or not I figure out what happened and get it taken care of, I have to drive an hour and a half on the 13th to go to court and go in front of a judge. This sucks! The Vibe is a lot easier to speed in than my old Saturn. So be careful on trips, especially around St. Johns, Michigan on 127.-valjean

I've been through St. John's many times and I have heard that they don't tolerate very much. I am surprised he reduced the amount of the ticket for you. That does suck about the other ticket though. Sorry to hear about the troubles.

Well counting this as 2 tickets (speeding & DWLS), I've had a total of 4 tickets in my 8 years of driving. The ticket they didn't have a record of me paying was for going through a stop sign and my first was 30 in a 25 (Downtown Plymouth, MI).-valjean

Just out of curiosity...what color is your Vibe? An old buddy of mine used to describe the color that Pontiac calls "Lava" as "Arrest-Me Red."

I've got the Neptune two-tone. But it was more like 3-tone. From top to bottom the colors were Neptune>White>Grey. The white was from all the salt on the road.

over eight years i dont think its too bad...ive been driving for 4 years and i only have a illegal left turn ...which on my record reads as defective equipment (thankyou to the corrupt justice system of the states ) and one other closed road ticket....dont get me started on that crap! so i guess at this rate i would have 4 @ 8yrs also.

I just received a ticket in Hazel Park,Mi. I hadn't had a ticket in 6 yrs I believe. Yeah i made a left turn on yellow to beat traffic and hit lift shot to 54mph before I knew it. At least that's what I told the Officer. I moved to Mi a few years ago so I had a clean slate up here. he couldn't pull up a record or anything on me. This frustrated him so he gave me a 5 over. Then persisted to drill me with questions about my "sports car" I couldn't laugh at the time because my wife was going to be a little mad. But the cop was funny. By the way I had 6 tkts in Alabama 3 for racing

I have been driving for 12 years and average a ticket every year, I don't think this will improve now that I have the Vibe. My wife budgets for the $130.00/yr. She's so sweet.
Shadow two tone, 5 speed, 16" alloys, power group, ABS safety group, 6CD, 200watt. Love the car.
