Sad but Joyful Day

Post by burkeyro »

Hello ALL,Today was a very Sad day. I bought my '03 Abyss manual Base back in October '02. Well after the past few years, through ALL the Trials and tribulations, it was time. I put 72,000 + miles on her and all but 9 of those were put on it by me. Today she got Retired. I finally traded her in before I lost the rest of my (removed) in trade-in value do to Milage. I'm starting a new Job on Tuesday and will be driving 500 miles a week, Minimum. There was some maintenance that was going to need to be done, like Clutch and whatnot. So I decided to get out while the getting was good. I just had a Mini Meet here at my house Last Saturday and we were talking, I expressed my intrest in the Dodge Caliber and how I thought I kinda Liked it. Especially the Idea of the SRT-4, and how I really don't like the front end of the '05 and up VIBE. So over the past week I went searching. I looked HIGH and LOW. And finally FOUND MY DIAMOND. My Fiancee and I drove up From CINCINNATI to GRAND LEDGE MI today. We arrived at the Dealership and THERE IT WAS. MY DIAMOND.Now some of you may be thinking "WHY in the hell would you drive 300+ miles to Michigan for a FLIPPIN DODGE CALIBER?" The answer is simple. I didn't get the Caliber, I took 1 real good look at the Plasti mobile with the TONKA made interior and said forget it. I did however find a near mint, 2004 Vibe GT Silver/Gray Metalic MonoTone, Tinted windows and Spoilers with only 15000 miles on it. I took one look at it and knew. AWW YEAH that one is MINE. Test drove it, and even with the Contential Tires, it drove like a Dream. I ended up getting it for well under KBB Retail value, and even had some Equity in my '03. I LOVE THAT CAR - We went 380 miles in it today (YES MY PSYCO SELF SPENT 10 HOURS DRIVING TODAY) and ended up with about 1/3 tank of gas left when we got home. Did I mention that I LOVE THIS CAR? LOL. Just thought I would share my SAD but VERY JOYOUS day with you guys and girls.-Rob

That front yard looks very familiar... that's great that you found your GT that you wanted and a killer deal I'm sure. It looks sweet and I can't wait to check it out! You are now on your second Vibe, like me.

Thanks for all the Kind words Guys and Girls. I'm loving it. I've already put 500+ miles on it. This thing is CLEAN - yeah From the Exahust to the engine. It was like buying a New one, except for the horrible wannabe "New Car Scent" - I love the color - don't get me wrong Abyss is/was my first choice, but this silver/grey whatever, is just awsome. the Pics came out kinda bad cause of the way the sun was reflecting off the car. If anyone is interested - I took the CIA off of my '03 Base, I have everything except for one of the Mounting screw/bushing thingy. I'm seeing if I can get a replacement. I'll be bringing it up to the MI meet. or reply to the Sale Thread that I have going. Thanks again for all the kind words.Joel/Joe, like I said man, We'll have to do another MINI Meet or something. I loved all the Looks we were getting with all the Vibes in front of the house

Yeah - It looks like the GM extended tip - Has kinda Ricy sound to it - I haven't had time to get under it and really check it out. One thing that I really didn't notice about the GT before I bought it was how low it is geared compared to the Base 5 speed. I seem to be getting about the same milage out of it. but in 6th at 80 mph I noticed the I'm around 3500 RPM opposed to the 3100 -3200 RPM in 5th on the base. I filled it all the way up and got 110 miles out of it before it went down to the Full mark, my base with filling it up all the way got about the same, maybe just a little bit more, but then again, I really don't care, I'm "STOKED" that I finally got a GT. It's like a night and day difference.
