I'm trying to change my drive belt on an 04 matrix xrs, how did you get to the tensioner? looks like i'm going to have to take off half the car, re route some stuff or something, anybody had any luck with this?
I know where the tensioner is and how to route the belt, I just can't get the thing off, there is so much stuff in the way I can't get in there, looks like I need to take off the whole upper part of the engine, or reroute some fuel lines
did it in my driveway in 10 mins.......have someone help u.....have them pull on the tensioner while u unwrap and rewrap the new belt........it is very easy.

i've changed a few belts, but none on something so cramped together, I can barely get my hands in there, I'm going to have to take off the bottom plastic and go from underneath and finish it on top
http://www.matrixrides.com/Rep...1.pdf for the base engine and http://www.matrixrides.com/Rep...1.pdf for the GTFor the GT you have to remove the plastic top of the engine, move the two lines on the passenger side of the engine above the belt to get your hands in. Put a 19 mm socket on the tensioner and pull towards you (use a pipe on the end of rachet). Should be able to remove the belt while holding the tension.. then relax slow
