Possible New owner!

Post by Paully's5.0 »

Hey guys, great site! It's been a great resource in my pursut of a Vibe!I'm trying to figure out what the MP3 function is on the Single CD radio. Is it an 1/8" line in jack? Located on the front of the Head Unit? Currently the car I'0m looking at has the 6 disc HU in there, but I use my ipod all the time and would rather have the MP3 HU swapped in, if this unit has a line in. Anway I'm looking at the Base Vibe, LavaPreferred PackageMonotone Package6 -Disc CD (hopefully to single mp3) and Monsoon soundAnti-lock brakes5 speed manualGot it too $16500, and a 5yr 75000 mile warrenty for another $1350 $0 Deductable.Oh, free bumper protector and mud flaps baby! Yeeah!!Decent deal?Oh, there is a Mazda 3 in competion with this car, 5 door S. Looks like when all is said and done, price wise they'll be pretty damn close, and I have no idea why I should choose one over the other. Well, it looks like the Mazda has a better resale value, but ...ugh...I dunno!

i would assume the MP3 player means it will play MP3 formatted CD's. if it does have an aux in jack, that would of course make it even better! lol

No dice on the aux in. The standard single disc just plays CD audio discs, as does the changer. The MP3 option is basically the standard single disc unit that is capable of decoding MP3's burned to a data CD.But, there is an auxiliary input adapter that you can buy for the single disc unit, and that *may* work with the MP3 one as well (don't hold me to that though!) Unfortunately, that adapter will not work with the changer. At any rate, welcome aboard! What is the preferred package if you wouldn't mind? I'm a bit out of the loop. Is that the power stuff and cruise? If so, that doesn't sound like a bad price at all.

She just loves her iPod For basic AUX audio input, there is the Peripheral AUX2CAR, the PAC AUX-BOX, and a PIE box as well. The iPOD2CAR, iPAC-OEM and others allow you to connect to an iPOD, control it (to a certain extent) from the stock head unit, and for some, to charge it while it's connected. They all plug into the back of the stock head unit (1CD- don't work with 6CD). Many (including me) have run a 1/8" jack cable or iPOD connector down to the compartment under the shifter, where it can be stored out of sight when not used.

Thats for the feeback guys! I'm sorry to say, but I'm about to close the deal on a Mazda 3, for the price and package I'm getting (just a tad more pricey then the vibe), I get a leather interioror, 17" wheels, 4 wheel disc.....the vibe just can't compete at the price.I'll see you vibe owners out on the road!

Good choice! Not a popular answer here, but if I could go back I would almost definitely go with the 3 as well.
