Golf TDI

Post by Viberrrr »

Well I could get a hell of a deal on a Golf TDI right now but my heart is still lovin the Vibe. I'm writing to help me decide with way to goOver all I believe the Vibe a better car. Both cars have really great style I love the look of both. Gas mileage TDI wins hands down Cargo space Vibe Safety both annual cost to operate Vibe Ease of maintenance (for us do-it-yourselfers) Vibe purchase price (used) about the same resale TDI reliability It it a Toyota afterall So it's still looking like the Vibe wins over the Golf. But boy woulkd I love to have both.

Golfs are some pretty badass sportcompacts. Mod friendly and fun to drive.

Golf TDI is likely to have higher maintenance costs. VW isn't known for great reliability.

Ya, that is probably the main reason for not going with that car.

What about insurance costs? Are they comparable? That could be a huge difference.

I have never bought a car based on insurance or warranties. I just never have. But it could effect the annual costs.

If you call your insurance company with the VIN (or a VIN of a car similar to what you want), they'll let you know how much it'll cost you. I did that when I purchased the Vibe. Deal with your local agent, if possible.Yeah, VW's do have problems over time, I think. My Mom's Passat has to get maintenance constantly for her turbo, and she needs synthetic oil changes every 5k to keep something from burning up (She has the 2.4T, non TDI)Plus the TDI engines are a lot louder, and Diesel has been priced higher than preimum at times lately.

all things considered, i loved my 1998 VW golf more than my current vibe...i'm not sure how the Golf design has changed in the last 7 years, but i'm sure it has quite a bit.my friend has a 2004 jetta tdi and he (and i) think it's a great car.i think you should test drive both and see how you like driving them...after all that is just as important as the rest of your list!

Sorry to say but driving it is really low on my list. I know this board has many really, really cool Vibes with tons of mods and it's cool as hell but that's not what my Vibe is for. My Harley is all I care about in terms of riding. It's were my heart and soul is. I have driven both cars and both are fine but dare I say they are just cars. OK I'm new here and I'm ready to be slammed for saying "they are just cars". Bring it on I can take it. I posted a picture of my baby "Evolen" for you all to see.

Soo, if you don't care about the ride of the car, what is your main reason for buying it? That si what should determine your decision.

trust me...i'm DEFINITELY on your side in saying they are 'just cars'.i was going along the lines of...if you have to drive it, at least get something you look forward to getting into in the morning.why buy something you don't want to drive? i'm not sure if i clarified myself....

Yeah, I can understand the 'just a car' part, but if you don't care how it drives then just get whatever works out better on paper. I think the Vibe is a comfortable ride. The Golf may be too. In the end it's up to you.

Why do I want a Vibe I want a reliable, cheap, gas sipping, cargo hauling workhorse. My wife wants a moonroofing, ipod listening, comfort cruising, dog food hauling workhorse. And I think I found it in a Vibe with the bonus of a great exterior and very nice interior.

I had a Suburu once, great cars. But they don't get the gas mileage of a Vibe. They don't have the VVT technology and are full time AWD. No, I think it's the Vibe for me and my family.
