Took a ride in a SRT-4

Post by Lancer »

I know this guy through a friend of mine and he's always stoping over looking for him. My friend sold him a hard to find body kit for a neon that my buddy never had time or money to have it painted. Red neon, white body kit, red hood w/ yellow hood scoop. Yeah it looked like a McDonalds neon. But this other guy fixed it up and painted it and now looks really sharp on his neon. Anyway, the guy stopped over today as I was installing my tranny cooler. I just heard a racing exhaust and a BOV whistle in front of my house. OK, that got my attention. I look up and here's a brand new red SRT-4 with sweet black wheels and cool tastful graphics on the side. I was hoping it was my buddy but the other guy came out. I walked up and greeded him and told him to give me a ride. He agreed with a ****-eating grin. He was telling of his upgrades already as he started it. Larger custom intake, larger BOV, and something else (I was trying to listen to the engine ). He taook off from the curb and jerked me in my seat a little. Not used to being a passenger. Then he made a turn and opened it up. I'm still grinning from it! It was awesome! The thing just pulled and pulled. His driving was a little jerky shifting so it was like slammed in your seat then feeling the seat belt on your chest, bamm, slammed back in your seat. We only went for a short drive, but it was really fun! I asked him where he got the car from. He said he won it (or the money for it) in Los Vegas at the slots. Won the car then $10G's to pay for the taxes on the car. Lucky basturd! He also works at a speed shop where he also gets sponsorship from and gets to mess with his own cars all day long. I gotta find a job like that!Overall it's a nice little car. Lots of fun to drive I bet. Just not for me though. I'll stick with dreaming for an EVO or STi someday.

But silly Dodge, they put all that power up front and the rear seat passengers STILL have to roll up their windows themselves.

Right on. Yes, that is pretty fast. Too fast for me, I'd say.But like the disclaimer says at the end of the video, none of those cars exist.

No doubt Neon SRT4's are great for the money! Wait until the Caliber SRT4 hits the streets, 300HP! I just wish it were AWD!

I just wish the SRT Caliber wasn't so far away from being released. onother year and a half. thought it may be that long before i get my settlement money. They aren't that heavy for the weight-hp ratio, but the bad thing is Dodge/Mopar already stated there will be no aftermarket support for the engine because it is already being pushed to its lmit, but you will see aftermarket suspension upgrades. So it won't be able to be as fast as the neon since the neon can be cheaply modded out to 500whp, but 300hp stock for a hatchback is quite nice.

it will always be a neon. dress it up, add more power, it's still a neon. i don't understand why they put that engine in a neon of all models. why not something else?? the engines are impressive no doubt, fast little buggers for sure. but i'd rather spend my money on an engine that's fast, awd, and will actually last for 100K miles! (not to mention the turbo NOT being made of PVC piping). if i can get 13's in my all stock auto LGT that's heavy as sh*t with just a retune and cats knocked out, i can only imagine what that engine can do with REAL a/m performance parts. now, just take that but an STI? there you go... and that's why we'll be getting phil an STI in the next 18 mos or so. for the price, i'd rather have a WRX with awd. even the evo crew up here, having lots of problems with their engines. mitsu makes nice cars and hella fast, but their engines aren't as tried and true. too bad.

Legacy STI would be sweet, WRX's are nice but that wing is a turn off. LGT was a nice car when I drove it but Subaru has stiff seats and that killed my back.
