Hey Guys! Rising Son's (bro's band) CD is out!

Post by Psychobroker »

Hey everyone, I know I've been MIA for the past few weeks - life, and specifically, work - have kept me busy. I'm still around of course, not goin' anywhere Anywhoo, I once uploaded a couple of Rising Son's songs - perhaps 2 years ago now? Well, their debut CD is finally OUT, and I couldn't be happier with the message, music, and production quality. Honestly, if you like roots/reggae with a little rock/dancehall for spice, please please PLEASE check them out. Why am I so pumped for them? Well, for one, their music is great, and two, this is my brother's band (Benji, he's the bass player). Sidebar: Mike - they're from Oxnard/Ventura, so you guys should go check out some of their shows...truly awesome performances. I think they're at The Drink in Ventura almost every Thursday night at 9pm. I know they're playing tonight at The Good Spot in Ventura @ 9pm..You can sample the songs at http://cdbaby.com/cd/risingsonon the left, it couldn't be easier to check them out.You can also check out their website for pics, bios, sample songs, etc: http://www.risingson-music.com/home.htmlThanks for checking them out

I just listened to the samples of all the songs (twice). Very nice, smooth, addicting beat. I like it so much that I ordered the CD. Congrats to your brother! I will look forward to future releases! Now back to listen to the samples many more times 'til I get the CD.

I received an e-mail from CDBaby.com (the company that is selling his CD's) and I just had to post it. I thought it was hilarious:"Your CD has been gently taken from our CD Baby shelves withsterilized contamination-free gloves and placed onto a satin pillow. A team of 50 employees inspected your CD and polished it to make sureit was in the best possible condition before mailing. Our packing specialist from Japan lit a candle and a hush fell overthe crowd as he put your CD into the finest gold-lined box that moneycan buy. We all had a wonderful celebration afterwards and the whole partymarched down the street to the post office where the entire town ofPortland waved 'Bon Voyage!' to your package, on its way to you, inour private CD Baby jet on this day, Wednesday, May 17th. I hope you had a wonderful time shopping at CD Baby. We sure did.Your picture is on our wall as 'Customer of the Year'. We're allexhausted but can't wait for you to come back to CDBABY.COM!!" LOL!!!!

Got the CD today. I love it!The CD itself is very cool too. It is solid black(not clear like al others) and it looks like a mini vinyl LP record. Awesome!

Yes, I'm still alive! With all the computer work (CAD, MS Office and Peachtree) I have a hard time getting on the PC at home. I do play games on my PC to help reduce the frustration. Lol, as I'm composing this message I'm also working from the same PC in the lab. It's operating a new $600K GDMS Spectrograph I just had installed last month. Enough of my problems, nice to see you all again.Regards, rasermon

Awesome!Sweet!!! And yes, it looks and feels like a mini vinyl -- that alone is worth the ~$14 for me I'm happy you like it so much; you can see why I love to spread the news about them. In case anyone wants to read up on them, here's an old review by a columnest with the VC Reporter (Ventura County) from 2002:Quote »From VCReporter, CA 6/25/02music" One of the venues we can (hopefully) count on being around for awhile, the Ventura Theatre, has a must-see show June 20, with reggae legends Culture topping the bill. The show is not necessarily as noteworthy for the headliners as it is for the local opening act, Rising Son, which features charismatic frontman Levi.Reggae is in desperate need of a new star and Levi possesses the talent, passion and authenticity to become a sensation in the reggae world. He's already creating a stir in the local music scene with his riveting performances when opening for big-name acts like Eek-a-Mouse. It may seem like hyperbole, but Levi could honestly be the heir apparent to the reggae throne vacated by Bob Marley 20 years ago."--Matthew Singer, Columnist Chris Jay - VC Reporter (Jun 25, 2002)That's a pretty sobering thought...I can see where it's coming from, though. Levi has charisma unlike any other artist i've seen live. His voice is very smooth and...i don't know...recordable? He's truly a warm, kind person, always personable and caring. So yeah, I'm a fanboy EDIT:Here's a pic of Benji, my bro!

You know I have been waiting with great anticipation for their CD. They loved Rising Son and are helping to spread the word. Thanks for lettiing us all know.

Nice beats but no offense..they need a new singer, I listened to every track and in every track whoever is doing the singing is trying way to hard and its way too obvious. The beats are nice though, Iordered it just to delete the vocals and listen to the music.
