I assumed I had the full-size fuses in my car when I was buying an Add-A-Circuit, I had never even looked at the fuse block before I tore into it... Definitely, you need the AAC for the mini fuse... And like Raging mentioned, the trim should just pull off... Doesn't come off too easily the first time..

The 2005 Vibe has a curtain airbag in the window pillar near the windshield. I don't beleive that running the electrical harness through the pillar is the smarts think to do. I was thinking of connecting the electric to the moon- sun roof electrical module in the roof. Since the moon roof switch is ingnition dependent, I thought that this would work. I would appreciate any comments on this.
I think you're on the right track... I highly recommend NOT messing around too much around the 'A' pillar if you have the side curtain air bags... Tapping into the moonroof controls is doable, many here have done exactly that for wiring up radar detectors and the like. There's probably a how-to around here somewhere about how to do that. Welcome aboard, btw.

I installed mine attaching the ground and the power line to the power moon roof connector. I found the power line with a DC voltmenter and confirmed that it was ingition activated. The entire installation was less than 45 minutes-- I used a pressure connector from Raido Shack.
Quote, originally posted by northvibe »so which one is everyone getting? the one with light, compass, temp and dimming seems pretty cool. for about 100 i guess its not to bad.Heck yeah, $100 is a steal for that! Where at, I must have missed that. The standard dimming-only mirror when purchased through your typical non-ebayish retailer is still about that price. That's the one I have, and it's same exact the one that started this thread, actually. Bought it off Mike, still going strong. Love that thing, I will not own another vehicle without it!!! I would like to have the compass and map lights especially, since the Vibe's one map light with moon & tunes sucks, but uh, I couldn't ever bring myself to upgrade like Mike did.

Got my ine today. It came with a third lead in the plug that turns the dinner off when you hit reverse. Anyone hook this up and if so where did you pick up the revirese light lead?
2005 AWD What's your story? It's a wonderful thingMomma always said "Help that is not helpful, is no help at all"
I took the power off the moon roof lead. The power is ther except when I open or tilt the roof. the mirror shuts down. Even wwhen the car is running. Not sure what to do about that.

Nice installs here. I also installed a Gentex auto-dimming mirror with compass. Works great! Here's my installation howtoFeel free to leave me a comment on the blog too!
I have a Vibe with a mirror that has built-in reading lights. Would installation be as simple as unplugging the existing leads for the reading lights and plugging those same leads into the new mirror? If so, this would be a the ideal first mod for those of us who are still learning.
Yeah, that would be a much easier install. When you take your existing mirror off, measure each wire against chassis ground. Find the pair of wires that is +12V power in.Then you can just wire from that into your new compass mirror.
Has anyone used these or bought from these guys?Their Auto dimming mirror with compass and maplight is only $78.20 for 05 matrix (I'm assuming will work for 05 vibe).I'm wondering why these are so cheap compared to others thats almost $300![Edit] Helps to put the link - http://toyotapartspeople.com/S...irror
Too bad the install pictures are gone from the beginning of this thread. Wish we could somehow save pictures for future reference. By the way unisilv... how did you get them for $78 ?? The price on your link shows $125.
