I was just wondering what your opinion was.In fact, GM instigated the partnership that led to the Vibe, and the original concept came out of GM. It was a GM designer, John Mack, who designed the interior that is found in both cars. The chassis and drivetrain engineering was done mostly at Toyota, however. If anything, the Matrix is a copy of GM's concept. For the 2003 model year, both cars were built on the same assembly line in California. The Vibe/Matrix are sibling vehicles, and are very close cousins of the Corolla and Celica.

yea +1 to what bluecrush said.I think the vibe looked better in 03-04 but now the trix looks better in 05+. is one better than the other? I would think that would be personal choice of the different options offerend by only one.

Hell, I voted enemy... I always felt like the Matrix people thought their spiffy lil' Toyotas were far superior to our "rubbermaid mobile" (as was once said on that matrix site, (removed)!) Vibes. (removed)!I never sensed much camaraderie between us and them, it always felt like we were at war for some stupid reason. But that's just me. As far as personal preference, I've gotta say the Vibe has looked good from the beginning and still continues to do so... But nothing has ever sat right with me on the Matrix, and it seems to get less attractive as time goes on.

I would have to say that Matrix owners are not as friendly as Vibe owners. If your car says Toyota on it, it makes it better! What ever my Vibe still is the same car. Just looks better.
It's the same thing between import people and domestic people. Even tho it's the same car, all that is different is the extremely subjective "how it looks" part. It all depends on the person. Friend until proven Enemy
If I pull up along side of a Vibe, I'll smile and maybe give a thumbs up if they obviosuly notice that I'm driving their same car. And if I pull up along side of a Matrix I would probably do the same. Just a smile and maybe a nod if they notice. If I pull up along side of a riced out import car I'll give the evil stare and then it's go time. lol. I definately see the matrix as a cousin. The matrix is truly one of us.

However, for the 2003 model year only (first year of production), they were both built at NUMMI in Cali.Quote, originally posted by Atomic »Personally, I think of Vibe as the "brother" because of the slightly more masculine exterior shapes and body lines, and Matrix as the "sister", a little less macho, more Japanese influenced in style.Almost everything else is at least the same DNA type.
