looks good, but where does the G5 fall in pontiac's lineup?the G6 was to replace the grand am, and i was under the impression that a G8 was on the way to replace the grand prix. is this the pontiac branded version of the cobalt to replace the sunfire?

I likey! A lot better than the Cobalt. And I've said it since the beginning of the Pursuit, a LOT nicer to look at from the rear. The Pontiac's tail lights make a heckuva difference! Bummer, too much moolah and arriving too late for me though!

yuck. pontiac used to be slylish performance vehicles...now they are just plain ugly. the G6 coupe is decent and of course I'll always love the vibe since it saved my life but everything else is going down hill.

This might be a stupid question, but why not call it a G4?

For those of you saying you like this better than the Cobalt, you might want to go check out a base model Cobalt. They look exactly he same, even the rear tail lights are the same on the base Cobalt. The higher end Cobalts have the dual lights. I saw one and was wondering what it was, then saw it was a Cibalt and was surprised. Seeing this all they did was change the front end.

Official G5 site is launched:http://www.pontiac.com/g5/I have to say, I REALLY like that car!!! I *just might* have to consider trading in the G6 for one...the 4 cylinder would be ideal for my commute, and it just looks great!

http://www.edmunds.com/insidel...15259Pardon my whinning, but....GM is soooo stupid. In this article they say that their WILL NOT be a supercharged version of the G5. Pontiac is the fricking performance division of GM and they don't offer much performance. Maybe they'll release the GXP model.... or not. I guess the 2.4 Ecotec will do for people who want this. /whinningThough I guess the SC for the Cobalt SS would mount right since it's the same engine.

Ok - I'm going to show my bitterness for a second. You ever just get the Urge to go out and Hang yourself.......... Yeah - the G5 makes me want to. In the end it's still just a Cavalier - just like Dodge and their Re-inventing the wheel with the Caliber

My theory is because this is merely a TEMPORARY replacement to fill the gap left by Sunfire, they won't bother to make a whole lineup. One could only hope to see the permanent replacement come down the line in the next 2-3 years MAX...
