I have a 06 auto that's on its 3rd tank of gas and I am getting 30-31 mpg in mixed driving. Knowing it will more than likely go up makes me even happier!
I usually get about 28-29 mpg mixed driving with my auto. I do have a Cosmo CAI installed and just passed 3k a short while ago, where I switched over to Mobile 1. I got about 1mpg increase from the switch to synthetic.
My first tank came up as 29.34 MPG with about 20% city and 80% highway driving. Probably less than it could be because we're going thru some pretty nasty rainy weather here in the Northeast (I am in CT) and some of the highway driving wound up being 30 MPH in the driving rain.
I am averaging 34 mpg with my Vibe, 60% highway, 40% city? Unsure of the percentages, as I drive through stop no go traffic on the "expressway" every morning and every afternoon!Regardless, I am VERY pleased! Most excellent!
What state are you in? In CA the gas has ethanol in it in most places for emissions, but it hurts MPG. I am seeing ~26 - 28MPG in mixed driving, but with ethonalated gas.
I have an '05 base auto trans, and the *best* I get is 25MPH with my usual about 2/3 city and 1/3 hwy driving. I personally think this sucks, as my commute to work has few stops; an easy drive on a 25mph parkway. I use my cruise, set to 29MPH. Every previous vehicle I've ever owned has always gotten the EPA city est. MPG, or better. I've been working and living at the same place since 1975. I have a Toy Celica with a M/T that I drive ...err.. very enthusiastically, and I still get the city EPA est. mileage, which is better than what I get from my Vibe. I drive my Vibe like a little old lady, trying to get better mileage out of it. It's no fun at all. What a pooch; 24-25 MPG (in the summer!; 22-23 in the winter) *sucks* when gas costs $3/gal., and my Honda gave me 33-34mph for 15 years doing the exact same driving. And due to the small engine in that car, I had to rev it pretty high to get decent acceleration from it. When I drive to work in the Vibe, the tach rarely goes over 2500 rpm.
Gandalf,I wonder if there is something else wrong with the car. I drive more like 60% highway and 40% city and my first two weeks with the car were in driving rains that kept my speed down to stop-and-go most of the way to work. And I still got 29 MPG... and I am told after the first 2000 miles it gets better.25 MPG sound suspicious to me. Then again, I am still new to the Vibe world.
30.9 on the latest tank.Does anyone else track their fuel efficiency at https://www.fueleconomy.gov? Seems like a good place to compare the "recommended MPG" against the "real MPG" of cars.
When my 2004 was new I was getting 32mpg. After 1 year it dropped off suddenly to 27. Dealer had no excuses/explanations. This accompanied poor accelleration and lazy shifting. 11 months later I get a service engine light. Replaced purge solenoid, back to 32mpg. Something to check on for low mpg people.
29.9 on the last tank. Down because horrible weather is making my "highway driving" more like "parking lot driving". Gotta gate I-84 during a rainstorm.
