Why no K&N "Typhoon Kit" for the '05 Vibe GT?

Post by 2001FZ1 »

Since I have to get a new hood for the Vibe due to hail damage, I am going to put on a ram air hood. I would like to get a K&N short ram intake such as the Typhoon Kit but its not listed any where for the '05 model. Is it ever going to come out or do I have to get something else??? Thanks!!

I think cosmo makes a short raim intake. I am pretty sure its because the 05 (most models) and up have drive by wire, so that complicates things..

"no throttle cable. It uses sensors instead. The intake tube has a smog line that keeps us from getting any current intakes" -steves76

i believe most of the '05 GT's still have throttle cables (mine does). i also think one of the members here was the guinea pig for a k&n intake for the 05's, but i'm not sure who it was (can't seem to find it with the search). hopefully somebody else has a better memory than i do.

In earlier threads it was revealed that the drivebywire switch from throttle cables was done somewhere midway in the '05 model year. Early production cars of the year still had cable throttles.
