Hi everyone...bought a new 06 vibe 3 weeks ago....loving it so far. I'm the type that does a little exploring, and I took off the blanking plates from the driver side (I have a base model vibe, the blanking spots is where the tire pressure guage, alarm, etc. go) and I found an electrical connector just sitting free in there. It has from what I was able to see one black and one white wire. Could this be prewiring for the liftgate hatch release? If so, do I just need to get a the button side from GM or toyota to activate this function? I notice a lot of things could already be prewired, they just leave out a few components to have them completely installed. Thanks for your help!!!!
YEAH!!! another cali viber...welcome to the site and enjoy the humor and loads of laughter.Im in Thousand Oaks.We should meet up and you can see my lil vibe. you might get inspired to mod the vibe like some of us have.Anyways... back on topic. you might have some prewires but not the cylinoids (sp) if thats what there called to pop the hatch or the doors in the car. is yours auto or manual locking doors?

It is likely that it's the liftgate connector. The liftgate connector should have a Blue wire with White stripe (BU/WH) and a White wire with Black stripe (WH/BK).It may be wired, however I would bet some money that the actuator was not installed. Secondly, these wires go to the MFAM (MultiFunction Alarm Module), which then has separate wires going to the actuator. The MFAM senses the switch (or hatch button on keyless fob) and then it activates the hatch release. If you want to test it, you can just short the two connector contacts together with a piece of wire.

I'll give it a try tomorrow...if I'm brave enough. I just don't want to short it out only to get hit in the face with the airbag or something (exaggerating of course). Does anyone have a website link for the wiring schematics or diagrams for the Vibe? That might help no more accurately without having to shotgun troubleshoot. To Mrizzle (hope I remembered the name right): Depending on my schedule, we might be able to meet up. Did you buy yours at Shaver Pontiac? I didn't buy their alarm system package (pull-tab kill switch) so they "deactivated" it, but left it in the vehicle. Seeing as how it's now my vehicle (or at least, my bank's ) I was wondering if there was a way to activate it? Is it already activated and I just have to find someway to get the key out? A lot of questions and I don't even know if you bought it there. Thanks for all your help guys...
