YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
I visited this site last week (CNN had an article on it). Blasphemy, I say! FOA, I'm a big afficianado of classic Monopoly and have three sets, including the Franklin Mint set (with silver and gold plated houses and hotels and tokens). I like the simple, deco-style layout; it's actually become an American icon. Mine is displayed proudly in our living room.SOA, it's bad enough that there are NASCAR and SpongeBob and LOTR sets available now. But the biggest problem I have with this "Here & Now Edition" is the horrible nominations. For example, Houston has three landmarks from which to choose: Johnson Space Center Kemah Boardwalk Museum DistrictOkay, how many of you have actually even heard of the "Kemah Boardwalk"? It's a big commercial venture by the owners of the Pappas chain of restaurants. The Museum District is a loosely-defined area just south of downtown, anchored by the MFA. That leaves the Johnson Space Center, which I'm sure EVERYONE'S heard of...but it's not even in Houston! It's in Clear Lake City. (Kemah's even further!)Who picked these places? Some of the picks are so obvious, they should've just done it themselved. C'mon....Gateway Arch (St. Louis), Grand Ole Opry (Nashville), Golden Gate Bridge (San Fransisco). The fact that the French Quarter is one of the few places left standing in New Orleans and is the top pick right now just oozes irony.Change for change sake should be one of the deadly sins.
hey Glenn Clear Lake is alittle south of Down Town Houston and where i grew up as a Kid Clear Lake is awsome byfar. Plus thats where my Parents worked, both of em, my dads been inside the control room and has done some programing for them.
