It's not that they're defective, badly installed, or altered...it's that they're high quality and powerful enough to give a clear signal to our own car, and it can be heard in adjacent vehicles. CP listens to mine sometimes when we're on trips where we're taking both cars. If someone is using an occupied frequency, then it will produce interference. However, this problem is solved quite easily...speed up or slow down; that will get you away from the car whose signal your radio is picking up. And the chances that every single person on the Interstate who is using Sirius with the internal FM modulator is 1) listening to Howard Stern and 2) using the exact same FM modulation frequency, is between slim and none.
