My first (non-aesthetic) Mod!

Post by rebbierae »

Ok, so I have the tinted windows, and I have the Grafxwerks overlays, but the other night I finally did my first "mod" under the hood! Yeah yeah, you guys with the CAI's and the lowered Vibes and all that other stuff can go ahead and laugh now--I got a K&N air filter (thanks MIVibe-Tool Guy!!) See what this site is doing to me?

Hey Becky! Cool! My wife loves her K&N too! In fact I installed it, did not tell her I did and she said did you do something to my car? Since I cannot really mod her car, she will not let me, I have to do sneaky mods! Plus her MPG increased a couple points...Glad it worked out for you and with all that extra power now, watch for cops! LOL!!! Plus it is good for not adding to the land fills since you wash it ans re-use it...

Well, Jim already made a black mark in my garage putting it in there the first night. But I end up behind all the SLOW drivers on the way to and from work, so I haven't even gotten to check out the "extra power"! Oh boy, I don't think I can AFFORD to be like Brian! I'd better get a third job!

Hey you're way ahead of me. I don't even have a tint! I figure my first mod will come this year when we buy the lease out and I get satellite radio installed!

I'm sure that was the first mod for a lot of us on the site... I know it was my first "mod". You do your first one, then you want another... it's very addictive!

Well, unless I get a new air freshener, that will probably be the last mod for a while. Got my Genvibe.com decals put on the roof rack over the weekend, as well as my orange Pontiac inlay on the back...if it ever stops raining I'll get the car all washed and maybe park it in the Gen Vibe garage!

Congrats, Let us all know how it feels, and if it helps out in your opinion. It is addictiv to do things to the Vibe, and I haven't even done anything big yet. Next thing you know you are going to have a Lower Vibe, with a CAI, free flow exaust, neons everywhere, and god only knows what else....And you do need to wash it soon, so we can all see it in the garage.

LOL Slow down--I'm not sure how much of that stuff I'll be doing--I'm not made of money! So far I haven't noticed a huge difference, but sometimes it does seem as if I get a little "air", if that makes sense. And on a road trip Sunday it seemed as if my mpg was a little better. But that could have been psychological, OR it could have been the new Grafxwerks stuff we put on Saturday night too. I promise I will wash it if it ever stops raining here! The weekend was gorgeous, and then yesterday it was 36 and raining. I have to work tonight but tomorrow night if it's decent I plan on washing her; then I just have to find a digital camera and get some pictures taken. I'm trying!!

well, if you get better from a drop in filter... you are lucky. you must not be gunning it. actually i think K&N claims better fuel economy if i remember correctly.. can't be sure.and i hear you on the wacky weather. it was nice last week, 52 ° F and sunny, then rainy and snowed last night! (removed)??? it's almost MAY!!!!

You just got the stock replacement, the 33-2252 ?PS- How often does it need to be washed (typical), and has anyone had problems with decreased performance over time with it?

Yup the 33-2252. That's the one I got. Since I've only had it for a week I can't tell you anything about decreased performance yet. I'll let you know in a few years. And as far as washing it, I'll have to look at the box and let you know!

Oh I DO love what I've done so far. Every night when I leave work and walk out to my car I think, "Damn, I love my car." I've never had that feeling before about a vehicle but I'm glad I do about this one!

No no no! I never said your cars are rice cars!!! Quit putting words in my mouth there, broke mexican! I'm just not going to put a foot high metal spoiler on my car and 6,000 stickers advertising what kind of products I wish I had, etc. I've just never had the inclination to change my car from anything other than what it was when I bought it. Now after seeing things on this site, I just want to change all sorts of things and make it "mine", so instead of people who know me saying, "Hey, that looks like Bec's car over there.." people can say, "Hey, there's Bec's car over there!" And PS--I'm not a biker babe YET!

I didn't say any of you were ricers--most cars on here are VERY nicely done. Most of it I wouldn't do because it's just not me, but that's not to say they aren't great cars! I need to go do some editing I think...
