So I had my car in this morning because the warranty is only 400 miles from being over. I had a little list of things that I thought should be looked at:-Transmission clunks going in reverse : mine sometimes sounds loud when shfting into reverse, but I think thats normal with this tranny....i think-Tranny shifts hard : it sometimes searches for gears and if i accel then let off it sorta can shift hard, again I think this might be normal for this tranny- doors rattle with bass and a-pillar rattles : this was the only repair done, they said they fixed the rattle in the dash, well i was going to dynomat the doors anyway and a-pillars-pop can crunch in front driver side wheel well : ive only heard it like twice when i start my car ill back up then put it in drive go a couple feet and hear this sound like i ran over a pop can. Silver last night in the chat said his gf's vibe did that and it was the recirc controls. I told the dealer that but nothing was found wrong.-Rear windows when down at highway speeds make LOUD pulsing noise : This literally hurts my ears so bad, they said that from cross winds it is normal and the desk lady said her car does the same. now all my last cars were fords and they never did this. It didnt do it last time i was on the highway but when i first got it it did.Anyway so they didnt really find anything wrong, anyone have any input on this?
The loud pulsing is most likely a beating frequency. The air forms waves as it attempts to go in the window and then gets stalled (actually dragged along). These waves can reach harmonics as we drive near certain speeds. What speeds harmonics are reaches at are a function of the air density and the opening.Next time this happens, try rolling the window up a little. Or you can always try speeding up or slowing down. This is a similar phenomenon to what can occur on washboard roads. When travelling near the resonant frequencies of the suspension, the whole car feels like it is going to shake itself loose and fall off the road. The solution is to change speed. Most people slow down, but some (think of old beat up Fords on a dirt road) people speed up. Both are acceptable ways to combat this frequency phenomenon since you can't dynamically adjust your wheel base.

yea the back window thing i can see the phyics of. the a-pillar still rattles but i guess they fixed a rattle in the dash? ...lol, ok. I will do the double sided 3m sticky tape to fix that, no biggie. lets just hope the pop can thing doesnt come back

Does the tranny thing sound normal? I mean its not hard shifting its just idk hard shift points? from what ive read on here everyone has the same thing.
This is normal. It's the ABS doing a piston check.Quote, originally posted by northvibe »-pop can crunch in front driver side wheel well : ive only heard it like twice when i start my car ill back up then put it in drive go a couple feet and hear this sound like i ran over a pop can.
ok so i heard a clunk after i started the car then backed up and put it in D then went a couple feet. from what i read before thats the abs engaging correct? i dont need a big repair bill after the warranty expires
