Biggest power increase from exhaust?

Post by Petrucci914 »

Hey,I'm looking to do some exhaust work but I don't want it to be too loud. If anything I want a very very deep tone and that is all. I really want to get the headers because I think it would be the greatest power increase and may even increase the sound from the stock exhaust. I can get the Vibrant Axle-back exhaust for 170$ for the Bassani Cat-Back for about 260$. What would you guys recommend? What will yield the greatest power increase? Thanks!

headers for sure will be the better HP than the exhaust and they will make the exhaust a little louder... but between the two you have picked i for exhaust i couldn't tell you anything ... i have a borla axleback on my 03

i think the overwhelming recommendation for exhaust and gains would be a magnaflow catback exhaust. it is a nice low throaty growl, not obnoxious or ricey. you already have a cai and from what others have already done with intake, exhaust combo's the most gains seem to be that (matrixowners.com has a lot more info regarding this). we just recently installed the magnaflow exhaust on Mavrik's base vibe. He also has an Injen CAI. we'll be retuning the Unichip to tie it all together for the best gains possible, however from reading through most of the forums and threads about headers, unless you are going to add a turbo or s/c, they don't add that much if you are just looking at either the headers in place of the exhaust. even still, you are better off porting and polishing your headers, but that's just mho. of course, it's all up to you as to what you are wanting to do. magnaflow exhaust will cost you $365 shipped from neverenuf.com. I highly recommend him to anyone. very prompt and great communication as well as shipping.

On newcelica.org theres a guy in texas that ports the 1zz and 2zz stock headers and the gains on the 1zz were about 10hp and torq at the wheels. so thats what I'm going to do, the aftermarket headers seem to be over priced imo. I would also recommend the magnaflow cat back.

Who does that and how much is it? Thanks. I can get the DC Sports header for 260$ and the Vibrant exhaust for 170$..... I may go that route and have both. Not sure yet, though.

For a 1zz header its $110 for a porting plus shipping so 30 or so for shipping to and from..so i estimated 150, but thats shipping your header so he has a core charge if you want him to ship a header already done and you ship yours to him then he refunds you the core charge. I also hear its better performance wise than the DC headers and your keeping the stock header so the sensor fits in perfect with the bung thing or whatever its called.

yes, porting and polishing seems to be the way to go for the 1zz vs the actual headers. plus, it's cheaper from my understanding as northvibe has already posted. i still say if you are going with full I/H/E combo, get yourself an ECU upgrade to get the most out of your mods. but that's just me.
