It has to get more than just wet. The Vibe sits pretty high and in order to do any considerable damage to the engine, you would have to completely submerge the filter in water. Considering that the bottom of the filter rests on top of the driver's side foglamp, it would take a good amount of water to accomplish this. More than you would want to drive through, CAI or not.

Also theres a big piece of plastic under the bumper that pretty much protects water from the road or rain from getting to where the filter would be at. not saying its 100% but it works well. Its been raining here and ive hit a few dips where the water was a lil deep, but all good! Just no swamp driving and you should be fine!!!

C.A.I.'s are just a mandrel bent tube with a place to put your m.a.f. sensor. It's hard to screw them up. Go for the best deal.

I heard the CAI is the best thing to get for your money by way of performance, I was wondering if you guys agreed, and if so, would the ones for the '03 be good for a Base '04? I know, that sounds lieka Noob thing to do, but as my first REAL car (mylast car was a '89 Omni), I feel I have a right to ask stupid questions so I don't hurt my beautiful vibe.....

I hate to throw a wrench in everyone's Injen parade, but the TRD actually fits 10x better than the Injen and I have an Injen! I met up with Larry from MO at Andre's house when we did the W/I installs and his TRD fit much better with the S/C. As far as without, I can only imagine the same results. The bends look like they were actually made to go around the battery and such and fit much better behind the fog light as well. Seems like a lot more time and research went into the TRD than the Injen as far as fitment goes. If it wasn't so much I'd already have switched to the TRD even though I dislike the color.

I would only imagine that the TRD would be a good one, they do usually have quality products. I kow I can never afford it, but the TRD S/C would fit the base vibe, correct? If I ever had the chance to get one, I would't want to get all excited only to find out it won't work on the vibe.

Even the ECM is the same.

I got Injen, no cels and installed just fine. I'd buy another if I needed to replace the one I have.

we'll since I have my heart set on a SC I might just save the extra couple bucks and get a TRD... but does the CAI need to be cut or anything when putting the SC on?

As far as I know with the AEM I think you have to cut it and I think the Injen fits better if cut, but the TRD doesn't have to be cut and still fits perfect.

INJEN Looks and sounds great. Its also cheaper than the TRD one. I am not sure if ptuning still has that special with the Injen Intake and the Borla Exhaust but I would consider it if I were you.

Hi all,Well i'm very close to buying a CAI for my 2003 GT. Was wondering the same question... (best CAI...?) I do not have infinite budget but was thinking that maybe messing with part of the engine is not the best place to be cheap Injen or K&N might have been my first choice but maybe Cosmo is as good as the other ?I have an offer for a new Cosmo for 100$ can (around 85-90 us i guess). Should i jump on that?thanks guys... you are a infinite source of wisdom and a torture to my budget .

yeah... the budget hates these forums hehe.a Cosmo new for $100 is pretty good. But you have an 03 GT? Injen should still have a good supply of those still. So would cosmo.
