Many Canandiens on genvibe, how 'bout more hockey talk?

Post by Zamboni Guy »

There are many genvibe users that are north of the border, just wondering if much hockey is discussed here. This has been a great season in the NHL. I'm just hoping an agreement is reached so that we can avoid another lockout.I'm just beaming with pride over the hometown MN Wild (just ordered a Wild license plate frame for my soon-to-be delivered Lava Vibe). They laid the smack down again last night for three W's in a row. Last night was big because of the club's connection to Montreal.I'm not saying they are going to win any playoff series just yet, but they are just a solid club (only to get better).Interesting to see Hartley go back and take care of business at Pepsi Center last night, too.

I live outside of Chicago and thanks to the Blackhawks owners hockey really doesn't exist in this town (games not on TV, owners are a-holes). Sports radio doesn't even talk that much hockey in Chicago.

I would love to hear more about hockey here. Die-hard Red Wings fan here. They have been doing very well over this past month, but struggled in January. They are still at the top of the Central Division though. I hope they can keep up the scoring like they have over the past few games. Go Wings!

I'm interested to see if the Wings have enough this year to get by Dallas (or even Colorado given how they are playing). But, it will be a fun playoffs regardless with those three teams battling it out.

There are several hockey fans here. I think that hockey is probably the most talked about sport on this website! Other than a little football talk around the superbowl, most sports chat on here has been about hockey. Maybe because the Vibe is so well suited to carrying a few hockey players and their equipment to and from games? I know that was part of my decision to trade in my Mustang for my Vibe. I can fit myself and two of my teammates with all our stuff in the car now and everyone is comfortable with some room to spare.BTW--I'm a long time Penguins fan. Not too much to cheer about this year, though. Lemieux's career has been astounding to say the least, but he is now aging and can't play like he used to. We traded a few of our top players away and got little in return because of the franchise's money problems. I'd have to say that I'm most impressed lately by Surovy's abilities on the ice. I hope he can keep up the good work. His play has been unexpected to say the least since being called up from the minors. I just hope that the team can find the funding and other resources to stay here in town and pick up/develop some great players. I'd love to see them restored to their former glory of about 10-12 years ago.

My wife is a big Penguins fan as well. I have always like them myself, but they aren't my Red Wings. As far as the Wings getting past Dallas, that will be tough. Dallas is playing awesome and they have a lot of great players. With Yzerman back, I don't think Detroit would have as tough of a time with Colorado. But the playoffs will tell.

Wings are good but the Leafs are better! Remember 1993 all you red wing fans who did detroit lose to the leafs in 7 games.I think we got the better goalie even after last nights game. Ill take the eagle over the dog! GO LEAFS GO!!!!!!

Wings are definitely a solid team, although they need some serious help on the blueline this year. Injuries to key Defensemen and Chelios being 64 yrs old are catching up with them. Lidstrom will probably play 55 minutes/game in the playoffs.I'll take Belfour over Cujo. Belfour is wacked in the head, but is a proven playoff winner with 2 cups in the big D. And he is doing great this year with the leafs. Anyone remember when he asked that cop if he knew who he was and offered him a billion dollars not to arrest him? That's classic stuff.Come to to think of it, I might take Lagace over Cujo this season. Cujo is always better when he gets lots of shots and has to be the man, but he has time to get his game together before playoffs so we'll see. Playing the homer here, I'll take Fernandez or Roloson over Cujo, Legace, and Belfour. Go Wild!

Leafs are better than the Wings??? Hmmm...I'm not sure about that. I think the score the other night was 7-2 Detroit. I know that is just one game and it is the regular season, but it was still a strong showing by the Wings. McCarty even got into the scoring in his first game back. Original six matchups are always some of the best games to watch.

OK, I'll bite. I hope this doesn't turn into a Leaf fan fest. The truth is, if either goalie gets hot in the playoffs, either team could win the Stanley Cup. Yes, even the Leafs could win it this year. Not to say that it was Cujo's fault the leafs didn't win it before. Cujo played very well for the Leafs and despite his current cool streak, he gets up for playoffs and can do it again. But Belfour can and has done the same thing. Remember, The Eagle has won a Stanley Cup, Cujo hasn't. This is the first year in a long, long time I really feel the Leafs can go all the way. BTW, I AM NOT A LEAF'S FAN . I want to make that clear. It seems if you disclose that you are a Leaf's fan, you lose all credibillity and the ability to think rationally.

Habitants of Canada (hence the name Canadiens).Detroit smoked the Yotes today. Hull's line was amazing. The Wings will be really tough to beat. The rest of the western conference is going to watch the Guerin situation very closely (surgery last night on his thigh - blood clot). He is key to Dallas being on top this year. Injuries could really hurt the Stars.Speaking of the Stars, one of the best Berman NHL lines is "Open up Sydor, and Lehtinen" (but still second to "Hello, Numminen" - ala Seinfeld)Since we are posting team stuff,

I think of it right now as everything is up in the air.Agreed. It is just fun that they are in the mix so soon in their brief existence. And, they are doing it the right way. Building through the draft and refusing to trade young prospects for older talent to win now. They seem to be committed to building for the long term. It should be fun when Gaborik, Bouchard, etc. come of age. And, Pontiac is the official car of the MN Wild. The last game I was at, they had a Vibe and a Grand Am on the ice between periods.

Big win for the Wild over the Devils last night, 3-2 at the X.Actually, the Wild was a bit lucky - 2 soft goals on Brodeur (plus were outplayed in the 2nd half of the game). But, a win is a win is a win is a win...

Leafs are pretty serious. Now they pick up Wesley from the Canes. Good move. And the Avs pick up Marchment. He is probably the least respected player because of his blatant cheap shots, but it is hard to deny that he will help the Avs in the playoffs. The fire sale is officially on in San Jose, it will be interesting to see who else they unload...

The Leafs have to stop blaming the refs for everything. Domi, Tucker, Corson have to shut their collective mouths. As a player of this great sport for a lot of years, I can tell you that as soon as any team starts blaming the ref for bad fortunes, you are beat. Toronto can easily blow this thing if they don't get focused and stop humiliating the refs. If you're focused on the ref, you're not focused on the game and the huge task at hand, like beating a great team like the Ottawa Senators. Domi, Tucker and Corson are a distraction and I'm certain the rest of the players are sick and tired of it. Leafs are a great team too, but not when the clowns are running the circus. Quinn isn't much better and sets a bad example. It has to start with Quinn.

Vibe Rater, you are correct. Blaming the refs is a sign that you are frustrated and not focused.Silverawd26, I'm not sure if Yzerman is hurt or not. I suspect they will be very careful with him until the playoffs. The Wings were due for a let down, and the Ducks are much improved this year.
