Room for 3 large dogs?

Post by vacationuser »

Hi,I have 3 German Shepherds that we will be taking with us on vacation during the summer. Our cars aren't large enough for all 3 so we are going to be renting a vehicle. I would like to rent a Vibe but I'm wondering if there would be enough room for the 3 plus a few duffel bags full of stuff. I'm hoping we could stuff some of the gear on floor of the backseat to leave more room for the dogs.Thoughts? Thanks in advance!Lara

one dog in the trunk, two in the middle seats, put your bags on the floor of the middle seats. Or fold down the back seats and let them free roam around. There would be room.

There should be room with the seats folded down. I have a large pet carrier that I have used to haul goats and piglets in the Vibe. I have also taken 2 goats in the back, with the seat upright. The only problem will be the sun shining in the windows may make it hot for the dogs.

HAHA you remind me of my folks, they used their old 4door VW rabbit to haul around sheep and calves... oh and goats to. Now I gotta wonder what they hauled in my Vibe when I left it with them for a few months.

yeah, with the rears folded. definately. otherwise no. my husky wasn't very comfortable riding in the back of the vibe with the seats up.if you owned the vibe i'd say lay down a bed sheet. dogs seem to shed specially in cars. lol

OH heck yes. I transported my sister and her 4 greyhounds and her luggage and she doesn't travel light. OK with that said, Hi everyone I finally made it back to the board and today I was watching the price is right and one of the prizes was a 2006 red pontiac vibe and the contestant did not win it. Boy what a loss. I would have kicked myself.
Later, Jenni ReddJenni Redds 2005 Vibe: Silver with black interior. The seat covers and air freshner have the dragon surrounding the yin-yang. Besides that everything is all factory!! I will eventually do some customizing.

If you go with the seats folded down, the plastic won't offer much traction for pets (and is subject to easy scratching). I'd probably purchase an inexpensive piece of rubber-backed carpet from a home center and cut it to fit.
