new owner

Post by vintagegz »

Just bought a base Vibe automatic with the power group last week ( in moonstone), traded my Saturn Vue V6, the plastic door panels were cracking and falling off. My question, when shifting from drive to reverse, does anyone experience a 'clank' noise under the car. mine does it each time, just wondering if it is a characteristic of the car. Otherwise it is great, no complaints.

Welcome to GenVibe!I don't recall ever having to shift from drive to reverse. I shift from reverse to drive everyday and have not heard a clank in 20,000mi while doing that.

I have encountered this before when the 04 models came out. I worked for a GM dealership in service at the time and a fellow brought his in with that very concern. We inspected the linkage at the transmission and even put a call through to techline. If I can remember correctly there was nothing wrong with his car that we could fix at the time. Of course this was back in 2004. It now being 2006 I would suggest maybe just having someone in service take a listen to it in the parkinglot. You may have nothing to worry about.

thanks for the inputs. It may be the exhaust system, it is very loosely mounted under the car, probably flexes a bit. Thanks again

I think mine just lurches a little, when sometimes I thought I heard a clunk, but when I had the dealer look it over it was "standard suspension noise" and I havent heard it since.
