I had an especially bad work-day yesterday thanks to some inconsiderate jerks I work with. I work for the AirForce, and as I work on the planes, I have to work on them on the Flight-Line(Parking lot for aircraft.) It can be pretty dangerous with high speed/temperature jet exhaust, but most people are careful enough to avoid problems.I was waveing a cargo jet out of its spot, so it could taxi to the runway to take off, as I do a lot. The pilots on this jet were excited to be going home and as they passed by me they throttled way up (3/4 power, as opposed to 1/4) without thinking of all the stuff they could knock down. Not noticing that the pilots were disregarding my safety, I was walking back to another aircraft when the blast hit me. I got tossed off my feet, and rolled down the line like a straw-doll. I got up with just some cuts and bruises, and pieces of sand stuck in my scalp. OOooooo I was pissed. Its a good thing I couldn't catch the jet cause I would have beyotch slapped the pilots. My buddies were watching the whole time and were laughing their asses off as I righted myself and chased the plane while jumping up and down cursing. Anyone else have some Inconsiderate workers?

Any input I can provide seems pretty trivial next to being knocked down by jet exhaust...BTW - Thanks for working for the Air Force. It's obviously an important job.
If someone pulled a no-no at a factory or construction site they would have been sent home. Don't you have any way to address safety violations like that?

I would also like to express my sincere gratitude for your service to our country. People like yourself help keep America #1 in the world. I work in the construction industry when I am not in school, so I'm sure you could imagine some of the things I have to put up with from coworkers sometimes. However, my problems with coworkers pale in comparison by far to being blown down the tarmac by a jet pilot crew getting their jollies at someone else's expense. I would hope that a superior would at least repremand those fools for their potentially dangerous misbehavior. Especially at a time when we might go to war, the last thing we can afford to do is risk injuring/killing our own military personnel through stupid pranks.

Now I know it is not funny and I hated to hear it, but it reminds me of this movie. I can't think of what it was, but two guys would go to the end of a runway where the planes land and every time a plane came down they would get blown back by the force. It was very funny.I imagine your buddies are razzing you if you were chasing a plane jumping up and down Jason
I'm enlisted in the Coast Guard and since I figure the morons who were flying the jet were officers I can even more understand why you'd want to kick the living bleep out of them. So much for the leadership training pulling that stunt.

Don't you have any way to address safety violations like that?Sure do, but I would have taken the heat. Technically, I am not supose to go anywhere to the rear of taxing aircraft. But when you get slammed with work, all supervision wants is the next 10 aircraft in the air as soon as possible. I was walking to the next aircraft that was suppose to have been gone already, when I was "violated". Aircrews know as a "unwritten rule" that you are not suppose to do what they did.I am humbled by all your thanks, but I just do my job. Just like all of you when you go to work each day. Everyone gives to their country in some form or another, so we keep the economy going together. Soon enough I will be free, and come 2005, I'll be a civilian again. Woo-hoo.

Actually rude officers sometimes find that screwing with enlisted folks can be bad when they leave their belongings on the planes unattended. I'm not saying anything, but sometimes crap just happens....

I think that would initially make me angry, and I would curse at them or report them, but after awhile, and as long as I wasnt hurt, I'd laugh too. And my job is really boring, so I wont share any boring things.

I was just kind of an intern, but I know what its like to have a job thats slower paced. I rather liked it, so even if your job is boring, there can be interesting stuff going on. Heck...just watch "Office Space". That movie was great.

There are two guys I work with that will scour the building for food on a daily basis (my company owns an office building which houses about 900 employees - all with the same company). These guys will grab whatever, whenever. Our conference rooms are setup with an adjacent service area for food/pop. If there is food in these service areas, they go through the back entrance (normally used by service personnel), load up, and leave. These two clowns don't wait until it is obvious people are done. They will load up before people in the meeting even break for lunch. When confronted about it (because it can be embarrassing when customers/suppliers or company execs walk in on this) they just claim it is company money. There have been times when they have taken so much food that there is not enough for those in the meeting. No one is going to die from hunger, but it is just inconsiderate. C'mon, have some pride and spend $5 on lunch...
Right on. Reminds me of an old job where people would take the lunch you brought to work out of the fridge, and eat it. Names, or no names on them, it didn't matter. So I feel you on these morons that can't buy or make their own dang food. Taking executives food? Isn't that a crime punishable by demotion?

But, the only thing that has come from it (to my knowledge) is an email to the entire site about being considerate. It hasn't worked too well, so far...
