Automatic Vibe - shifting question

this might be a dumb quetsion but my vibe seems like it shifts enough for me to notice when....when i apply my breaks a somewhat decent amount...i feel an extra push sometimes like its shifting down or something.also when i am going like 60-65 mph and i let go of the gas to coast...i feel like it does the little jolt forward like its shifting down again.is this normal? or normal for pontiacs? i have had a toyota with the same engine and it just feels weird. sorry this isnt very descriptive but anything will help if you know what i feel when driving.

I wonder it that is a characteristic of the electronically controlled throttle vs. the cable throttle. Hmmm. I'm assuming you have overdrive "on" when this happens?

I kinda know what you mean. my fiances 06 auto does that too... we have a grade here so goin down the grade it downshifts enough to feel and then coasts at a decent speed... and if you step on it enough when i goes through the gears... you can feel each one!Its doesnt seem bad... but im by no means a mechanic.

there was a thread about that here somewhere. mine does it too, and i have an 03. with an aftermarket exhaust you can here the downshift when coming to a stop.
